Enlighten in a flash / From a series where I work to express the deepest emotions, both positive and “negative”. Armed with my Nikon D300 and a flashlight. I try to keep the ps-work to a minimum to not loose the ethereal energy the method some times captures. iso 100 f:15 s=30” tripos and flashlight. Only normal editing. Aurora borealis photographed in November 2003. A very active solar stream gave superb displays even at low latitudes. This shot was taken with a Mamiya 645 and 35mm f3.5 wide angle lens near to where I live. Film was Kodak E200 push processed to ISO 800. As a result the original is very grainy. Such a display has not occured since I moved to digital!

Not leaving well enough alone, I ventured into googling and found an amazing photograph (hven.swarthmore.edu) of a Wind Bubble and began searching more of the Stellar Winds ~ this all seemed to fit, so I sketched a female figure being blown by the wind and layered it atop the Wind Bubble, editing a little more with the Redfield fractilius plug-in to bring the force of the wind alive with evidence of its power, though unseen… “Thought is the Wind, knowledge the sail, and mankind the vessel. ” August Hare
