A February storm unleashes its power in the beauty of non-stop lightning over Spencer Gulf in South Australia. This 15 second exposure shows just a small sample of a spectacular night’s viewing. The tiny lit chimney, that you can see on the left (which belongs to the lead smelter in Port Pirie), is actually 205 metres in height, which gives perspective to this, the power of natures finest glory.

WILD & FREE / / South Georgia is one amazing island that you all must try to get to, if you don’t mind four days in rough seas on a boat that is!!! But it is truly worth it…. This image was taken at a place called “Salisbury Plain”, where there are approximately 250 000 penguins! The sound as you come over the hill is tremendous, not to mention the smell!! This shot was taken on the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland in the town of Montreux. The combination of the setting sun, the lack of wind and the slight overcast conditions created the metallic look of the water – which looked like it had the consistency of mercury. Interestingly, this location is where Deep Purple wrote the song Fire in the Sky.

Such a mighty stream! No surprise that the waters of Trümmelbach are so powerful; the area this brook drains includes the famous glaciated mountain trio Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau... Lauterbrunnental, Switzerland. July 2008. Canon EOS 300X, Sigma 28-135, Manfrotto tripod. Post-processing: retouch, tonality adjustment, sharpening, colorize, crop to square, subtle frame.

One of the reasons I love Redbubble so much, is the inspiration that other artists give me. Some time ago my australian mate Michael Bermingham posted Old Yanchep Inn which to me is a timeless classic. Then Shelly Hiebert posted Sacred which is just a fantastic image. I always wanted to get a shot similar to both of those and digging through my archives back to 2007, I came across this image I took with my Nikon D50 in the Madison State Capitol building. A little HDR processing, converted to B&W, little noise reduction applied, some Dodge & Burn (which Kimberly Palmer first introduced me to) and this is what I came up with. Enjoy a calendar – full… or more in the fireworks series… The start of the annual fireworks concert under the landmark ramparts of Edinburgh Castle perched on a volcanic rock above the city. Amongt the picnicers thronging the public gardens below my first attempts at fireworks meant fumbling in the dark with unfamiliar settings (like M for mad) and getting disoriented still further by an upended camera so all the buttons were in the wrong places… LOL .. then it didnt help when my remote died after 3 test clicks..teehee.. So critique hugely welcome.. and excuses above!
