I am fascinated by different kinds of light on form. This image was meant to bring a feeling of a cold winter evening….long ago.

“I am powerless,” I said. The force fell through the sky past bright white glow, past flecks of paint and snow, past frozen fish and street vendors selling instant potions to cure the blues or make a million dollars. The blue wall fell around my ankles before it surged up toward a face held steady into the light from a street lamp in the middle of a desert surrounded by candles in honor of the dead the dead the dead. Overhead a bird with a cactus in its mouth circles. The eyes of two cats watch as I rise on an island to the mist, to the drizzle of sweat, vanilla-flavored rain and grab onto a rainbow that wraps in a ribbon around my waist and carries me to safety. Or at least to somewhere that is different. The cycle will return. For now I am safe. Yet, one of these days I’d like to decide where I want to be and go there instead of just riding a wave and ending up wherever it takes me. / “Wave in Light” is acrylic on masonite 24”x34”
