From my collection: / Natural Impressions Featured Art 10 January 2009 Mood and Ambience / Featured Art in many other wonderful groups as well, so many I lost count. Mahalo nui to all the moderators, thank you so much! A composite image of two of my photographs: Alaska Midday Sun and the exquisite black sand beach of Hamoa, Maui Hawai’i “When He Himself reveals Himself, / Brahma brings into manifestation That which can never be seen. / As the seed is in the plant, / as the shade is in the tree, / as the void is in the sky, / as infinite forms are in the void ~ / So from beyond the Infinite, the Infinite comes; / and from the Infinite the finite extends. The creature is in Brahma, and Brahma is in the creature: / they are ever distinct, yet ever united. / He Himself is the tree, the seed, and the germ. / He Himself is the flower, the fruit, and the shade. / He Himself is the sun, the light, and the lighted. / He Himself is Brahma, creature, and Maya. / He Himself is the manifold form, the infinite space; / He is the breath, the word, and the meaning. / He Himself is the limit and the limitless: / and beyond both the limited and the limitless / is He, the Pure Being. He is the Immanent Mind in Brahma and in the creature. / The Supreme Soul is seen within the soul, / The Point is seen within the Supreme Soul, / And within the Point, / the reflection is seen again. / Kabir is blessed because he has this supreme vision!” / Songs of Kabir ~ Translated by Rabindranath Tagore ~ Introduction by Evelyn Underhill ~ 1915 Copyright 2009 – 2010 © Sharon Mau / ourjrny / The Heart Within the Art / My images do not belong to the public domain. / Reproduction is strictly prohibited. / All rights reserved Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Currently with 2358+ Views 92 Favourites 189 Comments and 1 Sale
it’s a great life…
...and what are the words one uses to describe a compilation?, works from my entire life?, fifty years of carrying around a yellow pad?, fifty years of writing and rewriting, changing the words, as their meanings change for me? These pieces are extracted from my book of prose, “50 truths and 50 lies, the first 50 years.” Available From: http://www.cafepress.com/byrongates.26516064

I have selected some of my atmospheric paintings, and matched them to the months. Jan – Graveyard Metallica. The lowest, darkest point in winter, in the Northern hemisphere. It gets better from now on! Feb – Hetton Colliery 1838. A dark and industrial scene, we have to tough this month out, like those hard men of that era in the mines! Mar – Smalholm Sunset . The light begins to get brighter as Spring is nearly here. Apr – Blea Tarn. Spring is here and the light gets bright. May – El Golco . Bright long days are here! Jun – Corinth . The season warms up and the longest days of the year. July – Market Day. The hottest month. Aug – Toscana . Holidays abroad and at home. Sept – Victorian Lady Fishing . September begins to turn the season. Oct – Old Carpathia . The dark nights begin, and October ends with Halloween. Nov – Beamish Wheel . Autumnal colours are everywhere. Dec – Trees of Eden . The winter Solstice, and celebration of the birth of Jesus. The reverse is, of course, true for those of you in the Southern hemisphere!

The light / Dancing in the midnight / Chasing the tango high / Breaking the lingo sign (NYC, 2006) It was taken when I was walking down the street on New Year’s Eve in Manhattan. It turned out to be a big surprise. RB does not allow a larger print for it because of its low image size. But I actually have printed out a 24”x16” for myself, and everyone likes it. Guess maybe it’s an abstract pattern, a bit impressionism.
...This is a further collaboration/experiment with my daughter; in order to get attuned for Christmas Eve. – In the middle my daughter reminded of the Holy Mary. She is kneeling, and it seems as she is praying to the light… we feel peace and tranquility in this picture. It was a beautiful, relaxing, exciting, shared creative experience for both of us. I call it verbal non-verbal art form. this work was result/accompanied with this song: / Encaustic on encaustic paper.
