Ian Rilen was a legendary Sydney rock and roller and a member of bands such as Rose Tattoo, X and Sardine V. He died earlier this year and is much missed for his wild and wonderful ways. I found this candid back stage shot of him and his then wife Stephanie preparing to go onstage at the Trade Union Club in Sydney’s Surry Hills way way back in the early 80’s. They were in Sardine V at that time and when I look at this shot now the eighties rush back. Oh my misspent youth. :) So Vale Ian Rilen, I so hope things are rocking were ever you are. This shot is for you.

A rock’s eye view of the loch of lowes – I think this has a certain messy charm compared with the more pristine perfection of ‘loch of the lowes’ or ‘LoL’ Let me know what you think – comments and tips most welcome Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Etterick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) loch of the lowes’ : ‘LoL’ : / ‘i am a rock’ : /

The wonderful little normandy port of Honfleur in France at the mouth of the river Seine.(it’s best viewed LARGE for detail). To access by boat you tie up and wait for them to close the road, lift up the bridge pass through a loch and this is what awaits !(I had the good fortune to be a lastminute stand in crew on a wonderful yacht recently… huge happy sailor grins … :)))) It’s an absolutely stunning place with its rich artistic and historical heritage wonderfully preserved! It is also the place from which a Samuel de Champlain left in 1608 for the ’ New World’ and he went on to found the city of Quebec and 400th anniversary celebrations are currently underway… I might have wished to capture all sail boats in this wonderful settting… but took comfort from the fact that everyone on that huge motor launch had to take their shoes off at the door to protect the carpets ..teehee! Had a wedding to attend a couple of weeks ago which gave me the opportunity to find a new area too shoot. So while my wife slept in I ventured up to Mt. Baker for Dawn and this was my reward. Kulshan Ridge Reflecting in the still waters of Picture Lake near Mt. Baker

It is a very old site, once occupied by a small temple dedicated to the worship of the Fates, as recorded in the rare 3rd century epigraph (walled under the northern portico of the castle). Its original religious function was soon replaced by a military function, given its strategic position. In the 13th century the castle passed from the hands of the lords of Toblino into those of the lords of Campo, who owned the castle bearing the same name in the Giudicarie (Castel Campo). Later on, the castle fell into the hands of the church of Trento (1495) and the Cardinal Bernardo Clesio had the place restored and rebuilt (1536-1537) on Renaissance lines, to become a lord´s residence: it was decorated by some of the artists working at the Magno Palazzo of the Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento. The prevailing 16th century elements are due to the subsequent transformations (courtyard portico and loggia, round arches) ordered by Gian Gaudenzio Madruzzo. All that remains of the Medieval castle layout are the wall to the west, a turret to the north-west of the present enclosure and the 20 meter high cylindrical tower, which may be considered a keep, strengthening the fortifications closing the summit of the fortified rock. Lake of Toblino This valley bottom lake has marsh vegetation (in particular ) and lacustrine (a few samples of “lamineto” of the ninfea gialla type); At certain points of the shore there are willow groves.
