Another experiment with metallic blue paper as a background and the flash on my camera… haha, I guess it worked well. I never use my flash, so that’s why this is so experimental, hehe. It’s also the stamen of a hibiscus.

Yes, I shall be busy these coming weeks here in our forests and on our heathland. Spring and autumn are the best times for a photographer in our area here in the Netherlands, as colours and atmosphere often create a magical mix. This shot from last October shows what promises are lying before me. And before you! Taken near Laage Vuursche, 22nd October 2007, 10.43 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 82 mm / F 5,6, 1/100, ISO 500
Gallows Dance / I have some animosity towards this image. Aside from being jammed in a very small space in a remarkably uncomfortable pose, a hammer that I had balanced on the windowsill to hold the black drape fell off and landed on my head. / It hurt. / More interesting however is the thought that if I had been hit hard enough to expire the best criminal minds in the world would have been at a loss as to how to explain that crime scene. / My story- the cat did it.

All the little household gods / Have started crying, but say / Good-bye now, and put to sea. / Farewell, my dear, farewell: may / Hermes, master of the roads, / And the four dwarf Kabiri, / Protect and serve you always; / And may the Ancient of Days / Provide for all you must do / His invisible guidance, / Lifting up, dear, upon you / The light of His countenance. Grass in a shadow, nikon D60 TOP TEN IN THE CHALLENGE From the Ground UP
Collaboration with the brilliant Lee Burgess dancing on the cliff edge. The colour in the top cloud is the moon halo. The good news for this shot was that this lovely rockpool lined up beautifully with the moonpath. The bad news was that the rockpool was perched on the edge of a cliff and between the top of the pool and the edge of the cliff there was only an 8” sliver of rock for Lee to stand on. Plus it was blowing a gale (that blur at Lee’s back is her hair blowing in the wind and the chill factor was less than 10 degrees). All Lee had on was this strapless flimsy dress and she kept having to hop out of shot to put her coat and boots on to warm up. And then the idiot photographer would say things to her like “Can you do some rotating pirouettes?” and she had to remind him “You know I’m standing on the edge of a cliff here!” and then shed did them anyway!! It certainly helped that Lee used to be a gymnast but brave or what!! So who would like to volunteer to be my next model :-) Shot off the Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park, Sydney Australia. Here’s the other shot from the shoot. Model: Lee / Photography / Direction: Geoff Canon 1Ds MikIII / Tv: 1sec / Av: f/4 / ISO: 1600 / FL: 28mm STOP PRESS. / Catherine just wrote this beautiful poem to accompany this pic – how cool is that! dance / When darkness transcends into the silent beauty / that is night / Would you join me in the magic of a momentary / ray of light? / that holds all our dreams, our wishes, our desires / in fragility / On the cliff, the pull so strong / yet drunk with a lightness of being song / I dance / Behold, beware / only moments apart / the end, the light / where only our truth / could do it right / there where only naked surrender can be / take my hand / dance with me
You have already learned what the “Flylands Series” is about…....(there is a description in “Gate-Traveller – Flylands No1). So this one shows us a Japanese part of the bursted Earth….a lonely Geisha watches out for other survivors, she hopes the eagle might have a message for her! She carries the light which is necessary to put all the flylands together again, in order to form the entire planet new. This light is kept in the antique Japanese lantern. But at the moment, there is no way for the Geisha to leave her little flyland!..... to be continued
I am not really happy with this one. It’s missing something? Or maybe there is just too much going on? Thoughts anyone? (c) Sarah Moore 2009 Stock used… / Model / Background

I have traveled far and beyond all you know. / I have felt that which could not be felt. / I have seen that which is most hidden. / I have touched that which is forbidden. Few have seen what I seen. / Fewer still ever know. I have seen holes in the fabric of the Universe. / I have felt time frozen and all identity lost. / I knew not who am I, where or what am I, and yet I was. / I was a thought, a light, a spark, a vision. I was the Thing inside my vision. I was the very word that tried to describe it. I was lost and I have found myself. Words cannot describe it. / So I cannot. But I WAS THERE! I can swear it. / And yes, I can go there again. / Anytime! Soon…
