This is to encourage people to try harder for what they want, even if it seems impossibly hard, and to lift your head up when all seems down. Put your head in the clouds, but keep your feet on the ground! The proceeds of all sales go to World Vision, an organisation dedicated to looking after children in Third World countries. .... EXCEPT, while it still runs through Phoenix Appeal, these proceeds will go to the RED CROSS VICTORIAN BUSHFIRE APPEAL. Check out my web site for twisted IRONy metal sculpture.

This image was shot on Fujichrome Velvia film (transparency film) and the transparency was manipulated further using a Daylab printer and Polaroid pull apart film. Once the positive was formed, some citroclean was sprayed onto it and it was placed into a bath of water. The emulsion lifts off its backing and is floating literally like very fine seaweed in the water. Extreme care was taken to lift this emulsion out of the water and onto blotting paper. Whilst it is still wet it can be manipulated further into any shape you wish. In this case a very subtle tissue paper type border. Once dry it sets into the blotting paper. This is the final result. This is a very unique technique as you will never be able to reproduce the same image twice due to the fact that it is dependant on how carefully you retrieve the emulsion out of the water and how you manipulate it on the paper while it is wet. More works created with this technique can be found here

Oil Pastel And Acrylic On Wood (With Minor Digital Enhancements) All of us need HOPE in our lives and these are some of my favourite quotes on that :D “We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars” – Oscar Wilde “Hope is the dream of a soul awake.” – A French Proverb “The very least you can do in your life is to figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is to live inside that hope.” – Barbara Kingsolver (Know of someone who needs the extra “lift” in his/her life? May this be a card of encouragement to that someone you care) You can view and buy my other “Hope Lifts Me Higher” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

This bald eagle has just “kicked off” from the little island of kelp where it was perched in a small bay on Vancouver Island. Bald Eagles are common here, and easily photographed. Image captured using a Nikon D300, Nikkor 600 mm lens with 1:4 teleconverter, ISO 400, f7.1, 1/640s handheld, and stabilized on a beach log while crouched.

Hand-held camera on deck of a small ferry-boat, plus Mick was holding me steady on the boat as I shot. My first experience of snow, shot last year in New Zealand en route to Doubtful Sound. Doubtful Sound is the second largest of the 14 fiords in Fiordland National Park. This is an area naturally high in fresh water inflows (7.6 metres of rain falls annually). The area features generally steep terrain, much of it inaccessible on foot, that is heavily forested except for locations where surface rock exposures are extensive.Wildlife to be found in Doubtful Sound includes fur seals and penguins (Fiordland crested and blue), or even rare large whales (Southern Right, Humpback, Minke, Sperm and some Beaked Whales). The waters of Doubtful Sound are also home to an abundance of sea creatures, including many species of fish, starfish, sea anemones and corals. It is perhaps best known for its black coral trees which occur in unusually shallow water for what is normally a deep water species.Doubtful Sound is unusual in that it contains two distinct layers of water that scarcely mix. The top few meters is fresh water, fed from the high inflows from the surrounding mountains, and stained brown with tannins from the forest. Below this is a layer of cold, heavy, saline water from the sea. The dark tannins in the fresh water layer makes it difficult for light to penetrate. Thus, many deep-sea species will grow in the comparatively shallow depths of the Sound. (ref: Wik) Same shoot: /
