SURF RESCUE by karin taylor / ink pastel acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper / the original aussie lifesaver chick on patrol at her local beach…swim between the flags folks..and right in front of the surf livesavers zincy noses….. My lifesaver chic sports a white onepiece swimsuit rivalling Miss World Australia’s figure….lashings of zinc cream on her nose for sun protection, and a pair of binoculars, really looking the part here…...and also looking pretty chilled, a common trait of most lifesavers on oz beaches :) There is a rubber duckie in the vicinity too…just in case…. i don’t do many skinny chicks, so she’s a bit of a rarity ‘round these parts! lol

Boats line up for a heat at the Anglesea SLSC Surf Carnival. Board racing and swimming events at the other end of the beach,
Shot at Burleigh Heads beach, just before the big storm, very dramatic sky that day gave me a lot of opportunity to shoot some National geographic style images. The speed boat is added in but was taken to the while we stood and chatted. -This is Patrol Captain Darren Solomon, good on ya mate!._ Shot on a Nikon D700 this 17-35mm Lens.

The best of the male Under 15s head off for the first leg of the Victorian State U15 (surf lifesaving) male ironman event. (Thanks for the info, Chris).

On January 26th 2007, thousands of yellow rubber ducks raced along a section of the Yarra River (Melbourne) taking part in the State’s first Great Australia Day Duck Race. The event celebrates the start of the 100th anniversary year of Surf Life Saving Australia, with up to 30 thousand cute rubber ducks, decorated with the iconic surf life-saving cap. Victorians could adopt-a-duck for only $5 each – and some ‘lucky duck’ won a car with all profits benefiting the development of life saving activities. Victorians are famous for enjoying their surfing and swimming culture, however it is only through the presence of lifesavers on our beaches for 100 summers that this culture could thrive.
I’ve combined this with the original colour image. Something a little different. More Action ... More Sydney ...
The Sunrise over Currimundi Beach, Sunshine Coast QLD. What better way to promote our Coast with the LifeSavers icon – The Watch Tower. This is one my faves!
