  • This image came about in an awesome way for me. Two weeks earlier, the model, Margrit, was telling me a bit about her life. She’s lived and travelled in many countries and taken lots of opportunities. She has also achieved great success with her photography. Several weeks later, I had an unusual chance to photograph her in an old train – the perfect location to reflect her life’s journey. / In Australia, Margrit has achieved her LAPS and AAPS, and is the only West Australian women to received international photographic honours AFIAP. She’s a perfectionist and it shines through in her work. Visit Margrit’s website

  • Pilgrimage
    by Karin Taylor

    US$4.70–US$125.40

/>Framed Print / / Mounted Print Pilgrimage / mixed media production on paper, ink, pastel, charcoal and acrylic Pilgrimage is about our passage through life, the boat represents the vehicle by which she travels, the wise animal represents the voice of wisdom, the bare tree represents a brand new slate on which to write each day, the crown speaks of how special each individual is. Pearls represent the tears of the moon and remind us that life may not be easy and we all struggle. The lotus represents strength through love. The daisies are for simplicity. The bindi is for spiritual insight. The red sky at night is a sailor’s delight…for a red sky at night indicates smooth seas on the morrow! As a fisherman’s daughter, I have witnessed the strange phenomena of a red sky numerous times….always turns out to be calm on the water next day – a great indicator.. red skies are a great indicator of smooth sailing ahead / Customers are welcome to email enquiries to karintaylor@exemail.com.au

  • Bec and I took a two night sailing trip on the boat ‘Habibi’ around the Whitsunday Islands. We moored one night in Tongue Bay to see turtles coming up for their morning breath and then scrambled over a ridge to reach Hill Inlet. Unfortunately the tide was high so we were unable to see the whispy sand that’s in all the postcards. Combining this scene with the story of Steve Irwin’s death, the European backpackers on the beach freaked out. Whitehaven Beach is the white strip of sand in the background of this photo. I was interested to hear that due to it possessing some of the world’s most pure and fine sand (~99% silica), it was used in manufacturing the Hubble Telescope’s mirror – in which capacity I’d like to find out. Date Picture Taken: 7/2/2008 / Camera: Canon EOS 350D / Lens: Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM / Polarising Filter

  • The Blue City II
    by Damienne Bingham

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Chefchaouen is a city in northwest Morocco. It is the chief town of the province of the same name. Chefchaouen is situated in the Rif Mountains, just inland from Tangier and Tetouan. The city was founded in 1471, as a small fortress which still exists to this day, by Moorish exiles from Spain to fight the Portuguese invasions of northern Morocco. It was known as one of the main concentrations of Moriscos and Jews who sought refuge in this mountainous city after the Spanish Reconquista in medieval times. In 1920, the Spanish seized Chefchaouen to form part of Spanish Morocco. They returned the city after the independence of Morocco in 1956. The name ‘Chefchaouen’ refers to the shapes of the mountain tops that tower over the town, that look like the two horns (chaoua) of a goat. It literally means “look at the horns”. The blue-rinsed houses and buildings, are a tradition that comes from the town’s former Jewish population.
