OIL PAINTING ON PART OF AN OLD CRATE / Image Copyright © 2008 JANE À PARIS I was really ill and upset one day, so I painted her quickly on part of an old crate. A friend of mine liked her, so I gave the painting to her. I actually think she turned out kind of neat too, for something that I painted rather rapidly and a little sloppily. At least I feel I did a good job conveying my emotions… Being stuck in wood, refers to the fact that they, my oppressors refer to my body as wood; which can be cut, chopped, burned, screwed, glued, manipulated, sawed, molded, chewed on, finely finished, and etc… In other words, they use physical pain and torture as a means to punish me in life and control my life, and my life’s events, or at least they try to. I have been like this for thirteen years, so I guess they are not very sucessful, at least at finishing what they have started…and I did this in just a few hours. Ha! SET ME FREE

Ok . . . I maybe went crazy here. This was actually a blurred abstract of a milkweed stem and leaf. It looks really cool in the original vibrant green but then I hit auto levels to see what happened and this is what I got, the inner spiritual light of the living plant. I had to do it!

I’ve been experimenting with the concept of backgrounds and I’m trying to photograph various things in a blurred fashion to use expressly as backgrounds for cards. This is my first attempt. It’s kind of fun to look at a scene and see nothing but color possibilities without any of the details. This background is actually a bottlebrush plant in my garden. The text came from a book I’m currently reading; it made an impression on me and I recorded it in my journal as a possibility for a card. Here’s the end product. I hope someone likes it.

Self Portrait / Here I am on the western slopes of Ulupalakua / Maui Hawai’i / The elevation here is, I’m guessing, about 4000 feet above sea level. That reflection of light below is sunlight reflecting off the ocean. That is Wailea, Kihei and Ma’alaea Bay down below on the coast. My dearest friend Suzane and I parked her car about 2 miles away near Keokea and walked up along a narrow gravel and cinder road to the meadow at this point where we watched the sunset together on a beautiful peaceful evening as the rains and mists drifted across the valley below. I set up my camera on the tripod and after adjusting the settings for low light, walked over and rested on my knees in the tall damp grasses. The only sound I heard was the soft breeze in my hair.
