Enjoy!
small water colour still life painting painted on watercolour paper with Windsor and Newton paints. In the background I have included a view of another still life painting of mine. The roses were from my garden. this is the first of my works to make it onto the homepage for 2009!
vector illustration from my original drawing. This is the lighter coloured version. Experimenting a bit with colours on these. Trying to get that early australian decorative art look.

Following on from The Rose ~ 1, I’ve tried a different process (also different view and using my P&S camera this time!) hopefully giving the more faded appearance. _Sold as a mounted print to an anomymous RB buyer 16 May 09 … thank you!!! _ Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM

I did a number of versions of this still life – in the end I closed my eyes and chose one at random! One does get a tad jaded after looking at these images for too long! Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM
Experimenting with a very simple vintage effect … if you like it, I’ll post a tutorial. The process requires layers and while I did it in photoshop, I can’t see why it wouldn’t work in Elements. It is very effective on portraits also. Featured In: / -Still Life And Food Photography / -Fabulous Flowers The roses that were my Valentine’s gift have dried and the pottery vase from my daughter has just been waiting for the right ‘something’ to fill it. My plan with these photographs of my daughter’s pottery is to photograph as many of her pieces as possible before they’ve all been given away so she’ll have a record of her work. I’ve mentioned before that I find roses difficult to photograph. Well, dried roses are even worse! LoL The camera picks up every very dry area and makes a spectacular blown-out highlight. You wouldn’t think a photograph of roses would be accompanied by some rather awful growling noises on the part of the photographer but maybe those growls added some texture. :-D HollyCawfieldPhotography
Featured In: / -Happy Haven-Photography / -Nostalgic Art And Photography When I was very young I developed a love for all things antique. At Christmas, when I was fourteen, my parents gave me this jug and wash basin for a gift and I was absolutely thrilled about it. I set this up on the floor by a window where the light was flooding in through lace curtains which filtered the light in a rather dappled way. By North American standards I live in a very old house and if you look closely you can see the tiny nails in the hardwood floor which was the way it was installed so long ago. There are thousands of those tiny nails in little rows in the floors here….it makes my knees sore just thinking about the fellow who had to hammer them all! :-) HollyCawfieldPhotography

Someday, the light will shine like a sun through my skin & they will say, What have you done with your life? & though there are many moments I think I will remember, in the end, I will be proud to say, I was one of us. / ~ Story People
