I was watching the movie “The Ultimate Gift” listening to the character played by James Garner talking to his grandson when he said… ‘Learning is a gift… even if pain is your teacher”. As soon as the words had finished coming out of his mouth I honestly said out loud – YES!! Immediately I was blown away by the quote and I wrote it down and thought about its meaning for weeks. I’ve never felt so affected by a sentence before. Upon reflecting this quote I found quite confronting to realise that I spent my twenties doing everything to avoid and “run away” from my emotional pain.. Now in my 30s I’ve realised that pain was essential for me to be a more caring, less-judgemental and forgiving person. Pain seems to show us the truth in others… the truth that all people, no matter what’s on the outside… have a heart capable of breaking on the inside. It gives me great comfort that I can now view the grief of my brothers death as somewhat of a gift to me – rather than nothing but a loss FEATURED IN Prize Challenges GROUP / FEATURED IN Creative Inspirations / FEATURED IN YOU’RE ACCEPTED GROUP / FEATURED IN FIRST THINGS GROUP / FEATURED IN TYPOGRAPHY GROUP / FEATURED IN THE ART OF PAIN GROUP t-shirt available .

The last in this series. This is part of a series that I am working on. Called morning noon and evening. Emerald Paradise As Is… / Canon PowerShot S3 IS Rainbow Springs Florida’s third largest spring, Rainbow Springs pump 600 million gallons of water daily and serves as the head water to the pristine Rainbow River. The property was acquired by the State Park Service in 1990 and is slowly being allowed to revert to its natural state. / Beautiful floral gardens surround the spring, and the area is immensely popular in the spring when the azaleas are in bloom. The state also acquired Rainbow Springs State Campground, located nearby, which was formerly privately owned. From the campground, you can tube or canoe the crystalline waters of Rainbow River, or fish for large mouth bass and other freshwater species. / A nature trail provides a lovely walk past two waterfalls and the azalea gardens, and meanders along the Rainbow River. / /

If I could sum this up in one perfect word, it would be Ragadellic. Don’t you think? I guess one of my guilty pleasures are Chuck T’s. You just can’t get a more perfect shoe. This is the Converse Generation as they say. / Everyone takes photos of Allstars, I know, but they are a good subject, so why not? This is my first attempt of a Converse shot, and I think I did pretty well. You painted all the trees, you didn’t know that they would die, / you varnished all the leaves, you didn’t know they couldn’t breathe This is a drawing i did inspired by a song and a friend (the best combination for an artwork in my belief)... The song in mind is Treeology by Shady Bard. The lyrics of the beginning are at the top and the rest on the artwork. Now for my friend… As you might have gathered I am a hippie at heart, an AMIABLE personality type and so is she. (Read the description provided for more information). One day whilst drawing and painting together she decided our personailties were like trees.. we provide love, shelter, care,a safe haven for friends, secrets, sorrows and love and give shade to the needy and a place to rest for the wary. we provide, life, homes, peace, love, fun, knowledge, spirit, history, pleasure, beauty to the world and the world would be boring and lifeless without us. yet sometimes, people sit in our branches, breaking them whilst gorging our fruit, picking our flowers and carving our bark. Yet silent as we are, we allow it to happen and remain quiet about the pain and sorrow we feel, only other trees understand and feel our pain (we tend to show emotions yet give no reason or meaning behind it)... I though this very appropriate and so decided to draw it… and it links in with the song… Done in ink Featured In Finks Of Ink / Music Inspired Art
This is a ‘still life’/’self-portrait’ idea I spontaneously had one day. The magnifying glass was a gift for my 50th Birthday. The photo being magnified is of me (during a modeling period of my life) taken around 1989. I wanted to depict a dreamlike quality of how time passes and the experiences one has along the way.
That song just kept jumping into my mind, lol…so now it’s my title. :) Oh, I also wanted to say that the mark on my side and back is a really large scar that I have from a kidney surgery many years ago, but I choose not to edit it out. Cuz I’m kind of proud of it!! :) Red curtain is from stock.xchng.
