  • In an effort to seek temporary oblivion from the unbearable pain and torment in her life, she seeks solace at the bottom of a bottle, and in a handful of pills. They cushion her fall to rock bottom, but she will have to bear the bruises tomorrow. Blessed relief from the voices in her head, and the ache in her heart… but only for a moment, a moment that will always be far too short. There is no pain, you are receding. / A distant ships smoke on the horizon. / You are only coming through in waves. / Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin. / When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse, / Out of the corner of my eye. / I turned to look but it was gone. / I cannot put my finger on it now. / The child is grown, the dream is gone. / I have become comfortably numb. Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb VERY IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ! This is the fourth of my Sweet Misery Series. The images to follow are in no way indicative of my personal state of mind at present. I’m doing just hunky dory thankyou for caring =) This series has been inspired by the raw intense emotion of the My Chemical Romance song – I’m Not Okay and been fleshed out by feeling helplessly on the outside of the turmoil in the lives of some of my nearest and dearest recently. This series will be short, but not sweet. A definate departure from the norm for me, and my first attempt at storytelling through my work. You may very well hate it, but it is something I needed to get out of my system. The pretty stuff will be back soon ;)

  • poetry is more to me than words on a page multidimensional / beyond past and future / beyond up or down / always in and out of context / and breathing life through creation and how high is up anyway? (best viewed as large as possible)

  • I was watching the movie “The Ultimate Gift” listening to the character played by James Garner talking to his grandson when he said… ‘Learning is a gift… even if pain is your teacher”. As soon as the words had finished coming out of his mouth I honestly said out loud – YES!! Immediately I was blown away by the quote and I wrote it down and thought about its meaning for weeks. I’ve never felt so affected by a sentence before. Upon reflecting this quote I found quite confronting to realise that I spent my twenties doing everything to avoid and “run away” from my emotional pain.. Now in my 30s I’ve realised that pain was essential for me to be a more caring, less-judgemental and forgiving person. Pain seems to show us the truth in others… the truth that all people, no matter what’s on the outside… have a heart capable of breaking on the inside. It gives me great comfort that I can now view the grief of my brothers death as somewhat of a gift to me – rather than nothing but a loss FEATURED IN Prize Challenges GROUP / FEATURED IN Creative Inspirations / FEATURED IN YOU’RE ACCEPTED GROUP / FEATURED IN FIRST THINGS GROUP / FEATURED IN TYPOGRAPHY GROUP / FEATURED IN THE ART OF PAIN GROUP t-shirt available .

  • sometimes we just do not choose to stop thinking thoughts that cause us deep pain and saddness. I know this to be true. One day after much help from the desire that was great in my heart to be relieved of such painful choices, I finally saw the light after many years of searching for my truth. / When I came to understand that my own choice of thoughts made me feel either good or bad I began to be conscious of my thinking and started to take full responsibility for my thoughts. What freedom I have discovered in taking responsibility for my happiness. I do not have to depend on people places or things to make a choice of a thought that feels a little better or a little worse or continue to think exactly what is causing my own pain. It is a daily practice and I am not perfect at it. Infact I can go for a few days with thoughts that are quite painful. But you know.. it beats years of it!! / Years to months to days to weeks to hours to minutes to NOW.. / I am shooting for IMMEDIATE GRATIFACATION.. TEE HEE…

  • I Love You....
    by Spraven

I Love You, / Could I have ever said it better, / Stood upon a mountain,

When the time comes and my space must be given to let life flourish in the space I left, this is poem to the one who loved and shed the tears as I lay dying….. / This is a touching piece of love, he has died and sees all thelove and light she had brought to his life and he loves her for her all…I hope you all like ; )

  • Who is Silvia? what is she, / That all our swains commend her? / Holy, fair, and wise is she; / The heaven such grace did lend her, / That she might admirèd be. / Is she kind as she is fair? / For beauty lives with kindness. / Love doth to her eyes repair, / To help him of his blindness, / And, being helped, inhabits there. / Then to Silvia let us sing, / That Silvia is excelling; / She excels each mortal thing / Upon the dull earth dwelling: / To her let us garlands bring...Shakespeare Watercolour on Arches Not Paper FEATURED IN THE FOLLOWING GROUPS… / CREATIVE CARDS.. / IMPRESSIONIST ART / FINE ART / The Riddle / Illusion / The Wish / Virtue / The Party / The Beauty / The Star / The Night / The Temptation / The Quiet / The Plea / Le Maquillage

  • We see you as we see a face / That trembles in a forest place / Upon the mirror of a pool / Forever quiet, clear and cool; / And in the wayward glass, appears / To hover between smiles and tears, / Elfin and human, airy and true, / And backed by the reflected blue...Katharine by / R.L.Stevenson When this painting was finished, I could not help but think of Stevenson’s “Katharine” and her “elfin” face…this delicate “quiet and cool” beauty seems to “mirror” his “trembling face, hovering between smiles and tears”.. • As in Bathsheba Everdene, from Thomas Hardy’s “Far from the Madding Crowd”...within a short time of arriving at her aunt’s house, Bathsheba has the neighbouring young men at her feet…independent, beautiful and intelligent, she rises quickly when she inherits her uncle’s farm, then shocks everyone by deciding to manage it herself…..her three suitors are each determined to marry her.. / “The book (which I have read a zillion times), has been described as an early piece of feminist literature, since it features an independent woman with the courage to defy convention by running a farm herself. Although Bathsheba’s passionate nature leads her into serious errors of judgment, Hardy endows her with sufficient resilience, intelligence, and good luck to overcome her youthful folly”.wiki Watercolour on Arches Not Paper / Katharine / Sylvia / The Riddle / Illusion / The Wish / Virtue / The Party / The Beauty / The Star / The Night / The Temptation / The Quiet / The Plea / Le Maquillage

  • When exactly nine years had passed since this gracious being appeared to me, as I have described, it happened that on the last day of this intervening period this marvel appeared before me again, dressed in purest white, walking between two other women of distinguished bearing, both older than herself. As they walked down the street she turned her eyes toward me where I stood in fear and trembling, and with her ineffable courtesy, which is now rewarded in eternal life, she greeted me; and such was the virtue of her greeting that I seemed to experience the height of bliss. It was exactly the ninth hour of day when she gave me her sweet greeting. As this was the first time she had ever spoken to me, I was filled with such joy that, my senses reeling, I had to withdraw from the sight of others. So I returned to the loneliness of my room and began to think about this gracious person. Dante (La Vita Nuova III) Dante first met Beatrice when he was nine and she was a year younger…he was entranced with her, but they did not meet again until nine years later..he went home and wrote what is considered to be one of the worlds greatest romantic poems, “La Vita Nuova”... many painters have recorded their meeting on the bridge…however there is only one (presumed) portrait of her…I discovered it after I painted this and there is no resemblance.. / Dante thought her angelic…I hope you think the same of my Beatrice... by Kristin Reynolds

I never should have handed you / my pretty pink ballet slippers. They had hung off the edge of my bed / for as long as I can remember, / ...

having a relationship with someone with mental illness can be very taxing. This is just a vent on being the one trying to interact with the one suffering from depression and/or bi-polar disorder. / It is so hard trying to balance the want to be with someone who is not there much of them time…wanting to love them, wanting them there...and the plain, hard fact that they cannot be alot of the time due to their illness – medication or not.

  • “Coping with the Pain” – Is a piece I did inspired by Hearing that I wasn’t going to be able to attend college another semester ….I was accepted …they love my work and personality…it was just a money issue… I broke in tears while on the phone… Last time I cried like that was when my grandmother died – back in 2003 / The picture mostly is this: / -the fetuses inside my head REPRESENT – the many unborn ideas that will not be able to see life / The announcement of the news was like taking all that life and aborting it… / -The heart with the fuel guage on empty …depicts simply how my heart felt / -And the many mouths that scream with piercing agony show how my soul yelled within / .... / charcoal, graphite, colorpencil / on 18×24 drawing paper My therapy to get over it …and move on /
