Acrylic on canvas 70×50 cm / 2005 (original available) I have a fascination for painting with lines…it starts with one…then another and more…and sometimes I have only a small idea of what it will be….others it’s more preconceived…but along the way it’s amazing to watch these lines form into something tangible…it reminds me of life and how things join and connect to make more and more each day a life wave / in and out / out and in it rolls / in to the shore it drags / out to sea turbulent days / made of Grey / calm night / full moon shining constant motion / constant feeling life wave / take me away
This man Pablo, brought me to his home in Taquile Island in the middle of lake Titikaka, He is a part of the “Aymara” a native ethnic group in the Andes and Altiplano regions of South America; about 2.3 million live in Bolivia, Peru, Northern Chile, and Northwestern Argentina. They lived in the region for many centuries before becoming a subject people of the Inca, and later of the Spanish in the 16th century. / The Aymara have existed in the Andes in what is now Bolivia (and, to a lesser extent, Peru) for over 2,000 years, according to some estimates. It is most likely that the Inca had a strong influence over the Aymara region for some time. Though conquered by the Inca, the Aymara retained some degree of autonomy under the empire. There were a number of ethnic groups which were later to be known Aymara by the Spanish. These were divided upon different chieftaincies. Upon arrival of the Spanish, all these groups were spread in what today is Bolivia. / Most present day Aymara-speakers live in the Lake Titicaca basin beginning in Lake Titicaca through Desaguadero River and into Lake Poopo (Oruro) also known as the Altiplano, and are concentrated south of the lake. The present urban center of the Aymara region is El Alto, a 750,000-person city near the Bolivian capital La Paz. / The native language of the Aymara is also named Aymara; in addition, many Aymara speak Spanish, which is the dominant language of the countries in which they live, as a second language. Sometimes we have to make our own way down the road of life…......
In this life we come to a point when we feel we no longer the same person we were years ago , sometimes we even seek the change , to me this image is about starting over , saying goodbye to old self and starting fresh , stronger, wiser, and happier ” I hope ” , for better view see it in large viewing . / —-—-—-—-— / Sally Omar / got inspired by my work and wrote this amazing Poem to go with this Image ,Thank you sally / —-—-—-—-—- / REBORN The Heavens opened as I stood there / My soul was completely bared / Trembling it was time to say goodbye / To the past…I did not cry / Hoping that my life would change / And nothing at all would remain the same / I saw all the hate and despair / Float from my soul and disappear / I stood there life renewed / As if a new world came into view / Love filled my heart and my being / Finally myself I was clearly seeing / I bowed my head in thankful prayer / Knowing that the Creator cared / I knew now I could move ahead / And as I stood there I said / My soul broken and very torn / Thank you Creator..I am REBORN
I have been trying out various black and white methods and I thought I should give this one a go. / I took this picture without them knowing. / It looked like although the grandfather didn’t have much money, he still managed to buy is grandson an ice cream. Taken in Bristol on Colston Street.

I saw it in a vision. I suppose you could also say it’s my subconscious viewpoint on on life, mankind, nature and our current economic situation. Fate later connected me with Peter Oszmann and his succinct poem, it was like our work was destined for eachother’s” – Carrie Glenn “A Fish Out Of Water” / Poem by Peter. J. Oszmann Nature is wise, but Mankind… just bumbling fools. Learn from the living, watch water in motion, Don’t waste your time staring at small stagnant pools. Fish are content to live their life in water, Water is after all their life’s element. There’s no need for them to be an “achiever,” Living, staying alive… that’s accomplishment. But there was one fish wanting something “better”, He wanted “achievement,” he wanted a “first.” He leapt out of water, fins in quick flutter, Taking fast to the sky… but soon died of thirst… / / Peter. The shit hurts sometimes, but I realize what I am, what I have become. The alien man waved his arms up and down and noticed that he couldn’t wave in the right language so he stopped.” Henry Rollins

With 6277 views 71 favouritings and 3 sales, this is probably by far my most popular image: / I shot it on my first digital camera, a Canon Powershot S80 compact in the main street of Kempsey NSW on a particularly trying road trip for work. It was a lucky shot, I just thought the billboard was a fairly self-reflexive thing to find in a rundown country town, but when this dejected guy limped into the shot it made it into a poignant statement. Having moved on in the equipment and (hopefully) skills aspects of my photographic practice due mainly to the encouragement I received here in the early days, I often look back at this image and see things I could improve with it. One of the assignments for a course I am doing is to convert an RGB image to greyscale. I’ve applied noise reduction, and unsharp mask, then tonal and exposure adjustments in the green channel. After converting to greyscale, I’ve despeckled it a bit and clone stamped out any larger specks that stand out more in greyscale. I’ve also cropped it a bit tighter and increased the resolution by decreasing the image size rather than interpolating. Wow, that was boring. Anyway, please enjoy the new mono version of Living. “You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake…” / / / / / / / /
The Green Man is an ancient pagan symbol of our relationship to the plant kingdom. Men become tree-like, and the Green Man sports plants and leaves and boughs growing from his mouth or beard or his hair. / In the Green Man we have an archetype for our relationship to both the cosmos and the Earth – to Father Sky and Mother Earth. Plants are born from and connect the two. Plants are, like us, cosmic beings; they guarantee that the sun’s generous efforts to pour its energy over the earth are not in vain. The Sun finds ready receptivity in the plants. / Interestingly, the archetype of the Green Man also respects silence and introspection, which are common traits among farmers and indigenous peoples, those who remain close to the land. The Green Man honors for us how rich and deep the roots of nature are, telling us that we need to germinate under the soil, in the silence of our hearts. / / nurture / The act of nourishing or nursing; tender care; education; training; That which nourishes; food; diet; The environmental influences that contribute to the development of an individual; see also nature; to nourish or nurse / en.wiktionary.org/wiki/nurture Media – pencil and photoshop / Substrate – paper I can’t explain this, ‘cept to say, it’s inspired by our connection with nature and the fragility of life itself sometimes, the message coming through is to nurture life by way of fostering goodwill toward one another and accepting we have a duty of care to our natural world also. Because Easter is approaching I thought it appropriate :) The child’s sustenance, or umbilical cord if you like is coming from a tree, symbolic of the healing that nature can bring….the new life and growth that comes with nurture both of spirit and of nature. Humility is understanding our rightful place in the scheme of all things, including nature, family structure and the wider community…... a world where there is tolerance for all, is the one i pray for
Taken in Manly in the early evening.
sometimes we just do not choose to stop thinking thoughts that cause us deep pain and saddness. I know this to be true. One day after much help from the desire that was great in my heart to be relieved of such painful choices, I finally saw the light after many years of searching for my truth. / When I came to understand that my own choice of thoughts made me feel either good or bad I began to be conscious of my thinking and started to take full responsibility for my thoughts. What freedom I have discovered in taking responsibility for my happiness. I do not have to depend on people places or things to make a choice of a thought that feels a little better or a little worse or continue to think exactly what is causing my own pain. It is a daily practice and I am not perfect at it. Infact I can go for a few days with thoughts that are quite painful. But you know.. it beats years of it!! / Years to months to days to weeks to hours to minutes to NOW.. / I am shooting for IMMEDIATE GRATIFACATION.. TEE HEE…

Self-portrait with the Very Tall Bassist, 2007 So a little background – i occasionally toy with the idea of using other people in photos with me, and models in general…not that i’ll ever stray far from SP’s, but one does crave a little variety now and then – and i have some very willing victims around me, especially of late. / The Very Tall Bassist is not, in fact, “my Man” or anything like that (although, perhaps there’s a bit of the story i’m leaving to the imagination, here…), but he sure has some cool wristbands, no? ;)
