  • A series of images by Sydney artist Lila Alias focusing on colour, positivity, light and creativity. / Artist statement: I try to find the beauty in all things around me. I am inspired by life, and seek to bomb the world around me with colour, light and creativity. This calendar was designed to bring positivity and colour into the life of its owner, and to brighten days that seem dull and gloomy. *If you require that changes be made to this calendar, feel free to bubblemail and I can arrange the changes.

  • a tast of mich nature

  • This calender is a compilation of light paintings. There are two methods to creating a light painting. One method is to wave or to move lights in front of the lens. The other method is to move the camera itself in front of the lights being recorded as the image. Both methods usually involve a long exposure, between one and thirty seconds and sometimes longer on the ‘Bulb’ camera setting. All my images were created with the second method, movement of the camera itself. Some of the lights are street and building lights but most are from a set of Christmas lights hanging in trees at a local Farmers Market in Downtown Asheboro, North Carolina. I used a Nikon D300 along with a 17-35mm and a 70-200mm lens to create these images. I am very proud of them. Minimal cropping along with some burning and dodging in photoshop were also used. Some distracting border lines were removed. I have been a photojournalist for the past ten years and to this day find it hard to stray outside the ethics of photojournalism photoshop techniques used to enhance my images. This means as little as possible enhancement of these images was applied in their creation. There is one exception, ‘Please God Wake Me Up From My Reality’, which noticeably is the same image four times.

  • Water and light – the foundations of life on this earth. Their interaction is a fascinating subject for the camera – at so many different magnifications… so often the camera captures what was not able to be seen by the eye alone. I continue to be fascinated by the endless possibilities of this interaction, and the totally unknown possibilities of what aspects of this, at any given moment, the camera may capture. / Here in this calendar are combined 12 of my favourite such magical moments of the foundation of life on this earth. If you prefer, I am happy to provide a personalised combination of these and any other images in my portfolio for your special requirements.
