Unfortunately the skies here in the desert are mostly hazy and full of sand and dust! There are not too many days when there are clear horizons with clouds, and to be able to catch a sunrise like this was just excellent! Located in Libya towards the Algerian border. / /
One of the many dunes located in the Sahara desert in Libya. I thought this particular shot worked well in b&w. Any feed back would be appreciated. / Taken with D300, 12 – 24mm f/4.0 at 12mm, ISO 200, f/13, 1/60. /
These refugee’s were traveling to Chad via Niger and stopped near our rig site to make repairs to their truck. After giving them water food and milk for the women, babies and children, they were gracious enough to let me take some shots. They still had 1000km to travel at this point…......Life is sometimes very cruel! Unfortunately i could not get any better shots of the women and children as they were safely nestled up on top. / Shot in the Sahara desert, Libya. / Nikon D300, 24 – 120mm at 58mm, f18, 1/250, ISO 200. / / . / / . /
Shot in the Sahara Desert, Libya near the Algerian border. These dunes never cease to amaze me! The colour at different times of the day are just superb. Nikon D300, 12-24mm f/4 at 12mm, f/9, 1/80sec, ISO 100. / . / / . /
Apparantly this olive tree is about 400+ years old! It still produces plenty of olives too. Located in Gharyan Libya. / . / / . / / . / / . / / . / / . /

One of the many little streets in the Tripoi Medina (old city) in Libya. / . /
I was wandering around the Tripoli Medina (the old city) and came across these 3 doors. All different and unique. A little help and i think they have come up well. / . / ! http://images-3.redbubble.com/img/art/border:blackwithdetail/product:mounted-print/size:medium/view:preview/666779-1-gharyan-ancient-pottery.jpg!:http://www.redbubble.com/people/craigshender/art/666779-1-gharyan-ancient-pottery / . / / . / / . / / . / / . /

B&W version of this old beast of burdon in Gharyan, Libya.
A strange variation to the b&w image of the Chalcidicum which i posted. I think it gives it a bit more depth? /

This is the Noth Eastern area of the sahara desert in Libya. As you can see, plenty of sand! Quite an amazing place, in some areas all the eye can see i all directions is sand! No trees, bushes, rocks or buildings! / . /
On a recent visit to the ruins of Sabratha in Libya, we met a group of young libian girls who were so intrigued by the cameras and couldn’t get enough. This young girl, about 6 or 7 years old put on a fantastic show for us, and was so funny! /
This is a veiw of the Ancient Theatre of Sabratha in Libya. Looking down upon the stage from the seating area really was an amazing feeling. I could feel the atmosphere that would have been there, and imagine all the Roman residents roaring at the talent that would have been on the stage! /
As I walked amongst the ruins of Leptis Magna, I kept thinking how amazing it must have been to see it in all its glory! And I wondered if the people of the time took this amazing place for granted as is often the case nowdays with all the wonderful things that nature (and human) has to offer? /
We nicknamed this Tin Pan Alley. There was about 5 people working here plying their trade, making all sorts of amazing things. / Nikon D300, 24 – 120mm at 50mm, f/18, 1/13 sec, ISO 200 / . / / . /

This is the first of a series of shots taken by a friend of mine working in Libya by the name of Matt Hagan (very cool man with a passion for everything he can get his hands on). He took these shots while on a trip to Acacus / in the Sahara desert, Libya. / I have made some contrast, saturation and cropping adjustments to the images but the praise and compliment must please go to Matt. Any sales of these images also go to Matt. Thanks for letting me show these great images mate. / . /

Looking past the ruins of Sabratha in Libya towards what is now part of the modern Sabratha. The boats in the distance look like fishing boats but apparently have a checkered past of transporting illegal imigrants and slaves! / /
