blood drips from the star of the Peoples’ Liberation Army, symbolising the shed blod of Tibetan refugees (see my writing “evidence”). By way of description and prompted by Cayannagirl, the symbols in the centre of the star are “ba-yi” and can be explained thus: the first character is “8”. This equates to August. The second one is “1” (seen if you look at the image sideways). This refers to the first of August, the date of the Nanchung uprising of 1927 which was the first big battle of the Chinese Civil War.

Coming Out
by taicheComing out, or commonly “coming out of the closet,” describes the usually voluntary public revealing of a person’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Being “out” is considered the opposite of closeted and usually refers to sexuality and gender minorities – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people. Being outed refers to having this information revealed, often without consent. Outing is the process of deliberately disclosing the sexuality of another who wants to keep this aspect of themselves private. The term gay was originally used, until well into the mid-20th century, primarily to refer to feelings of being “carefree,” “happy,” or “bright and showy”; it had also come to acquire some connotations of “immorality” as early as 1637. The term later began to be used in reference to homosexuality, in particular, from the early 20th century, a usage that may have dated prior to the 19th century. In modern English, gay has come to be used as an adjective, and occasionally as a noun, that refers to the people, practices, and culture associated with homosexuality. By the end of the 20th century the word gay was recommended by major style guides to describe people attracted to members of the same sex. At about the same time, a new, pejorative use was visible in some parts of the world. In the UK, US and Australia, this connotation, among younger generations of speakers had a non-sexual derisive meaning equivalent to rubbish or stupid (as in “That’s so gay.”) / The Rainbow flag or Pride flag of the LGBT community (also known as the gay pride flag) is a symbol of LGBT pride and LGBT social movements in use since the 1970s. The colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community, and the flag is often used as a symbol of gay pride in LGBT rights marches. It originated in the United States, but is now used worldwide. Designed by San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker in 1978, the design has undergone several revisions. As of 2008, the most common variant consists of six stripes, with the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. If you have the right or opportunity to vote…vote. Your vote counts or does it (?). Two United States of America election voting results are still in question and doubt as to whether the votes were accounted for by those that voted in 2000 and 2004. The results of those two elections have had world wide repercussions. The political party that won the elections of 2000 and 2004 in America failed and continue to fail and will continue to fail even if they return to power. / The Iranian voters cast their votes and the results echo the American elections of 2000 and 2004…who really won those elections (?). Some Iranians have taken to the street and are protesting and they are in great danger of beatings, arrests and death. It is amazing that in that totalitarian country that citizens would unite in solidarity to voice what they must know is the will of a very few…to control their lives. The Iranians have experience an American style voting result exactly like the Republican Parties coup d’état of 2000 and 2004. / Godspeed to Iran and to all citizens who want to know their votes count and matter and that the privileged few eventually will fail…unite…solidarity…one step at a time…the hope and promise of change.
