I love Jeeps! / I have a Red Wrangler YJ of my own. I think they have always symbolised an element of Liberation and Freedom for me maybe? This little beast posed for me on one of the old runways at RAF Upwood during the Ramsey 1940’s Weekend in Cambridgeshire England. This image is part of my Vintage 1940’s series.

Song written during Victorian Premier Jeff Kennets’ reign ( ex Premier of Victoria ). Played on 3MU and other community radio. refers to his sell of of the SEC (State Electricity Commission )and several public schools. The public schools sales were handled by current Liberal Opposition leader Ted Bailieus’ Real Estate Agency ( no relation to my mother who spelt her name differently and has the meaning of behind the Casle walls ). I do note that the Victorian Labor Government ( who can not spell Labour ) has not done anything to undo any of the policies that Jeff introduced and were denounced by labor ( Labour ) at the time. I often wonder how many other “disidents” were carted off to psych wards during Jeffs reign and given ECT. Liberal is as Nazi does. But then my mother, the decorated RWAC and AIF soldier said “Do not to believe anything said about the second world war, the NAZIs won and took over all Political Parties”.

Lake Livingston, TX / August 8, 2009, 2:32 PM There are few thigns more fulfilling than watching a grown man act joyful and free like a child. One of my dearest friends, a highly respected member of CTK and our community was given a little positive peer pressure to grab the rope swing and fly out into the lake. Which he did with the most satisfying smile of liberation I have seen in a long time. He swam, grinning from ear to ear, to the ladder, climbed onto the dock and stated simply “That was fun.” From the “Retreat” Series August 7-11, 2009 ** / Seven men from my church here in the Houston area gathered at another church member’s lake home in Livingston, TX where we spent three and a half days digging deeper into our past, our wounds, and the life the God has given us in Him. This weekend was one of the most crucial points in my spiritual life, and a powerful example of how God uses men from all different backgrounds to further the Kingdom.

Taken March 7/09 Rome, Italy The Arch of Constantine (Italian: Arco di Costantino) is a triumphal arch in Rome, situated between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill. It was erected to commemorate Constantine I’s victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge on October 28, 312. Dedicated in 315, it is the latest of the existing triumphal arches in Rome, from which it differs by spolia, the extensive re-use of parts of earlier buildings. / The arch is 21 m high, 25.7 m wide and 7.4 m deep. It has three archways, and the lower part of the monument is built of marble blocks, the top (called attic) is brickwork reveted with marble. / The arch spans the Via Triumphalis, the way taken by the emperors when they entered the city in triumph. This route started at the Campus Martius, led through the Circus Maximus and around the Palatine Hill; immediately after the Arch of Constantine, the procession would turn left at the Meta Sudans and march along the Via Sacra to the Forum Romanum and on to the Capitoline Hill, passing both the Arches of Titus and Septimius Severus. / The arch is heavily decorated with parts of older monuments, which assume a new meaning in the context of the Constantinian building. As it celebrates the victory of Constantine, the new “historic” friezes illustrating his campaign in Italy convey the central meaning: the praise of the emperor, both in battle and in his civilian duties. The other imagery supports this purpose: decoration taken from the “golden times” of the Empire under Trajan, Hadrian and Marcus Aurelius places Constantine next to these “good emperors”, and the content of the pieces evokes images of the victorious and pious ruler. / The main inscription would originally have been of bronze letters. It can still be read easily; only the recesses in which the letters sat, and their attachment holes, remain.
