My rendition of Impression Sunset by Monet. / This is a limited series of monet style works and is in my impressionism collection. / At first Monet called this painting of Le Havre at dawn Marina. But as Renoir asked for a clearer title in order to put it down in the catalog of the 1874 exhibition at the photographer Nadar s, Claude MONET replied : Then put Impression, Sunrise. / This painting raised a storm of criticism and gave its name to the movement. Impressionism was born.
Sestri Levante is a town in Liguria, Italy. Lying on the Mediterranean Sea, it is approximately 56 kilometers south of Genova and is set on a promontory. While Portofino and the Cinque Terre are probably the most well known tourist destinations on the Italian Riviera, Sestri Levante is becoming quite a favorite among Italians. This once quiet fishing village is slowly turning into a tourist hotspot, developing an old and a new town.

Small and famous town of Liguria in Italy, a tourist destination
Sestri Levante is located between Genoa and La Spezia. The town has two bays: Baia delle Favole and Baia del Silenzio. The original part of Sestri Levante is actually on a peninsula, with the Baia del Silenzio on one side and Baia delle Favole on the other. Baia delle Favole or “Bay of Fairy Tales” was named in honor of Danish writer, Hans Christian Andersen, who lived in Sestri Levante for a short time in 1835.I love this place because of my daughter who is living in Milan and travelling a lot in this area. / I was there in June 2009.Wow, what a wonderful vacation I had.
Please View Large National Trust Cornwall-Online © Situated on a cliff edge 5 miles from Land’s End, the oldest beam engine in Cornwall is being driven once more by steam thanks to an extensive programme of restoration and rebuilding. The Levant mine is famous for its rich undersea deposits of both copper and tin. The minerals were pursued for more than a mile out under the Atlantic ocean. The mine is also known for its long working life from the end of the eighteenth century to 1930, though there is evidence of mining activity on the site from the Elizabethan period. The main engine house still stands, clinging to the edge of the cliffs, exposed to the fierce Atlantic Gales. The winding engine is still intact, or whim to give it its Cornish term, being the sole surviving piece of machinery of the mine. The winding engine stands in the same house as it worked in for 90 years. The cliff edge location, making it the most westerly steam engine in the country. The mine is one of Cornwall’s oldest. Built in 1840, by the West Country’s foremost engine builder, Harvey and Co. of Hayle. In 1935, just five years after the mine was closed, the beam engine became the first to be preserved on its working site by a group of private individuals – the Cornish Engine Preservation Society. The engine is now under the care of the National Trust having been handed over by the Society in 1967 along with other engines, including Taylor’s 90 inch pumping and Michell’s 30 inch whim, both on display at East Pool, Camborne. Please View Large This was taken recently on our late summer holiday to Cornwall. We were heading home from Lands End when Steve saw a sign for some old tin mines. We got there just as the sun was setting with some glorious colours in the skies. This was at last light at Levant Mines, minutes later the light had gone completely. Nikon D200 (L) / Sigma 18-200mm
