  • This photo was taken very late in the afternoon on 9 Feb 2008. We have just had almost a week of solid rain, so when we had a break in the weather this afternoon, we grabbed the cameras and jumped in the car to see what treasures awaited us. We were not disappointed!! Leura Cascades is only a short drive or walk from the main shopping strip of Leura which makes it one of the Blue Mountains more accessible waterfalls. A favourite for locals and tourists alike.

  • This photograph was taken of the upper part of the Leura Cascades in the Blue Mountains National Park, Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia in the late afternoon/early evening on 9 February 2008.

  • The many different views of the Leura Cascades, at Leura in The Blue Mountains of NSW Australia.

  • Leura Cascades. Situated in the Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia. I have been and photographed this location many times. On this particular occasion there had been a lot of rain in the days previous to this photograph and there was a lot more water falling than usual. Canon EOS 30D

  • Shot: Nikon D40X / Format: Raw / Time: 1.29pm / Exposure: 10.000 seconds / F No: 9.0 / Focal Length: 26.0mm / Tripod Used / Uv Filter Used Leura Cascade Falls is in Sydney Australia The Blue Mountains. This is a great walk to go and do! It’s not to hard and you see beautiful things the whole way! How to get there… Commencing from the Leura Cascades Picnic Area make your way to the information board from which you will observe a concrete pathway descending to the left. Follow the pathway as it travels beside the bubbling Leura Cascades creek. You will approach a small footbridge, at this there will be an intersection, you will note a weathered signpost indicating the direction of Leura Cascades, from this point head downhill to the Cascades. As you descend the fern covered stairs (handrails for support) to the Cascades you will hear the sounds of rushing water as the creek picks up speed. At the bottom, the Cascades are best viewed from beneath a rock cave looking back up the Cascades. A brief sidetrack can be made from the Cascades by following the path for a short distance to a lookout directly above the Bridal Veil Falls. Return to the picnic area via the same pathway.

  • I ventured up to Leura Cascades in the Blue Mountains today to try my hand at some waterfall photography.. This was one of the results, I hope you like it!! I used a circular polarizer to darken the scene and allow longer shutter speeds to capture the water flow better.. / Thanks very much for looking, comments and critiquing are most welcome.. • The legendary Will Barton led two waterfall expeditions in the Blue Mountains this weekend – along with Warren Williams from Sth Africa, and Brett Still from Sydney, I was privileged to be able to take part in today’s shoot. THANK YOU Will for your patience, and your help! Here is my second offering from the day – a ‘teaser’ from Leura Cascades. / EXIF: / Aperture priority / F16 / 1/6 second / ISO 160 (the Sony R1 doesn’t go any lower) / Centreweighted Bridal Veil Falls No 1 was taken on the same outing. • Leura Cascades, Blue Mountains, NSW Found this photo from my recent trip while looking for some archived photos. Thus is my first photo of a waterfall. It was in early morning light with sun at the top of the cascades so I got glare on a lot of the photos. Thank you for looking, please view larger, critique welcome

  • Once again, a favourite spot of mine – Leura Cascades in the Blue Mountains National Park – on a late summer’s foggy morning. This image is straight from the camera. • The walk down to the Leura Cascades is very rewarding. The path is well defined and easy going on the downhill journey as it follows the path of the falls. Today, after heavy rain, there were pockets of water on the pathway however this did not hamper my enthusiasm as I was rewarded at the bottom of the cascades where a hidden world awaited. Walking bridges take you across the waterway and into a huge rock overhang where you can then gaze in wonder back up the waterfall. From here you may wish to turn around however the path leads on. Just a small walk from the cascades you will find the long drop off where the water falls in a long stream to the valley below. From this point the walk then climbs upwards quite steeply with a couple of ladders to climb and follows under the cliff face above. There are a few spots to sit and get your breath back and to admire the view. The brochures warn you that it is a 3 km return, 150 minute, hard walk – this is pretty accurate but well worth the effort. There are other options along the way to divert to other walks along the way. This image was taken from the point where the Leura Cascades descend into the valley below and looking across the Jamison Valley with Mt Solitary in the middle background. / / / /
