Not too many folks now-a-days find the time to sit and actually take a pen to paper, and write a letter to a friend or a loved one… The computer age we live in just makes it so much more convenient to send someone an email, or a text message on our cell phone… but… I for one, like to try to make that time for the loved ones in my life… and I do truly enjoy writing letters… and receiving them too….

This is the Temple Church in Bristol. / Temple Church is so-called because the original church was built by the Knights Templar. The Templars, a society of soldier-monks, was formed during the time of the Crusades to defend the Holy Sepulchre and guard pilgrims travelling to Jerusalem. The internet is a second home for me. While some people use it to transfer information, I prefer using it to nurture relationships and share real thoughts and emotions. Natalie has written a little journal encouraging us to share something creative. I’d like to show you couple of places where people come together over their shared feelings and experiences to create something meaningful. Letters from the crushed allows people to anonymously write to people who have broken their heart. The fragility and honesty of these messages is truly touching. Dear God is a vehicle for prayer and confession in a society of guilt and shame. And tells us that faithful or not, we all need love, kindness and understanding from one another. Anonymous Love Letters collects messages of love and longing, and shows how similar we really are in both our highs and lows. I believe that when you bring together the right balance of elements, you can create something more meaningful than the sum of it’s parts – art. Which is why I consider these places to be works of art, created and shared by many.
