This was my first experience at the lower Falls in Letchworth. I really enjoyed the view! It was so trying without my tripod but worked it out!! I hope you enjoy it. / Nikon D50 18-70mm Nikon Lens October 2008 / /
Beautiful in every season, Letchworth State Park, in Perry, NY, lovingly called “the grand canyon of the east” stretches 17 miles along the Genesee River, cutting three gorges some 600 feet deep in many places. The river roars over three separate waterfalls, the highest of which is 107 feet. Lush forest provides beautiful cover for dozens of walking and hiking trails along the river and set the gorge ablaze with color in the fall. This shot is the upper falls – not the tallest of the three – and above it the railroad trestle that believe it or not, I walked across when I was ten years old… before I developed my terrible fear of heights!

Well I finally got to visit the famed Letchworth State Park in Central NY It is a fantastic place more to see than you have time to see it so i’ll be back but here is my take on the park in the following series / Taken with the Nikon D-90 and the 18-105 mm nikkor lens 04/09 The rainbow really makes this spot look magical /
Taken at Letchworth State Park which is a state park, about an hour and a half south of Rochester near Mt Morris NY. It is an absurdly gorgeous park featuring several massive waterfalls spread over 14,350-acres and 70 miles of hiking trails. It is part of the Genesee Gorge, also known as the Grand Canyon of the East. The well maintained grounds echo the passion for preservation of the depression era Civilian Conservation Corps who are largely responsible for shaping the park’s appearance as it still stands today. The park is located roughly 1 hour south of the city.
