the ironic quirks of history are written in stone – here near Wick in the north of Scotland, the mighty stone towers that sheltered the Picts from their most hated enemy the Romans, have in more recent times been quarried to build Roman religious shrines, this one is dedicated to the festival of lent.

There is something magical about walking through a thin layer of snow alongside a riverbank. Especially when no one has been there yet. You’ll find all sorts of strange figures, made by the wind and the water.

I’ve coupled an American robin with a European legend about the robin; I think it makes for a nice marriage. And a very good message for Lent and Easter, too! Bearing His cross, while Christ passed forth forlorn, / His God-like forehead by the mock crown torn, / A little bird took from that crown one thorn / To soothe the dear Redeemer’s throbbing head. / That bird did what she could; His blood, ‘tis said, / Down dropping, dyed her tender bosom red; / Since then no wanton boy disturbs her nest; / Weasel nor wild cat will her young molest; / All sacred deem the bird of ruddy breast.

One of my very first pieces…. I imagine one of the apostles seeing Jesus dying upon the cross—but in reality, I like to think it could be any of us. Peace, Claudia I made this image for a convent of Carmelite sisters that I love dearly… / I’m hoping they can use this in their gift shop.

I know this is another dark piece – but I’ve been working a little every day on this one during a very difficult time in my life…. / Added some texture to the final painting…..and had to step away from it a lot because it became hard for me to see after a while. Anyway – hope you like it. I had originally started to do a native american painting – - and for some reason – this is what I ended up with.

My picture “Spring is here”, titel converted to “Lente in Edegem” was published in our local monthly journal. / They asked a photo to illustrate Spring in Edegem and my shot was chosen. / I should receive a voucher of 25 Euro to spend in a local shop. First step to a big career LOL !!!
