See extra large view here Shorncliffe peir is situated in the suburb of Shorncliffe, Australia near Saint Patrick’s College and lower Moora Park. This pier with its white faded timber railings, colonial street lamps spaced out along the stretch of pier, and resting shelter towards the end is a much visited attraction for families, residents and tourists to the area. In 1865 a company was formed to construct the pier, and it was finished in 1872. The pier still stands reaching out into the bay over a century later. The colours of Wine Glass Bay, Freycinet Peninsular, Tasmania, on a fine day. Whaling parties, tin and coal miners and pastoralists are amongst those who have lived and worked on the Freycinet Peninsula since the early years of European settlement. Old mine shafts, abandoned farmers’ huts and the remains of whalers’ camps today form part of the rich cultural heritage of the park. The majestic beauty of Freycinet’s granite mountains and white, sandy beaches have also long been admired by naturalists, artists and writers. the area was reserved as a national park in 1916, making it (along with Mt Field) the oldest national park in Tasmania. link Canon 400D Sigma 10-20 DC HSM

Shot on the promenade at Swansea overlooking Great Oyster Bay towards the Freycinet National Park. We had found a camping ground open, and settled there for the night. A short walk brought me to the river and a fisherman. He was not very talkative, so I do not know how much, or even whether he had caught anything. / It was a nice spot to spend the evening, even doing nothing as he did while I watched. Taken with Pentax LX camera and 28 mm shift lens on Kodachrome film.

This is a corner of my sitting room; a lovely place to sit and read with fresh breeze blowing in the window, where I keep some precious photos of my three sons (and girlfriend of one of them!). White pleases me, it’s so calming, clean and fresh.

324 images It took me a long time to make this image. Finding photos on the internet that worked together took about a week and the image itself took another week or two. It has a lot of detail and I feel it’s the kind of image that could keep the eye occupied for a long time.
