  • The complete and real title is : “Poupée – InnerSelf”. I asked to myself : Stars… They bright the sky, our eyes, our mind & soul. They are inside of us. We always look for them, for these glimpses of lights and happiness. / Do we really know ourselves? / Do we realize that we have all of this inside of us? / What are we in fact? / As we don’t really look in the correct place, we don’t really know ourselves i decided to ‘almost’ delete the face. • Beautiful pink Flamingos standing together. Taken on a bright sunny day in Singapore, July 2008. Settings and camera – Canon 5D and 100-400mm lens, f8, ISO 200, AV mode, exposure 2 x stops under to darken background and bring out pink in flamingos. Minor cloning to two areas in background to remove green tree spots.

  • Believe it or not, these are all the the same species of Ladybird. They are the notoriously invasive Harlequin Ladybird Harmonia Axyridis, the most invasive ladybird on earth. It is also known as the Multicoloured Asian Ladybird and the Halloween Ladybird. It has a very variable appearance, which can make it difficult to tell apart from our native ladybirds. The harlequin ladybird was introduced to North America in 1988, where it is now the most widespread ladybird species on the continent. It has already invaded much of northwestern Europe, and arrived in Britain in the summer of 2004. I photographed all these variants on my runner bean plants, in South London, where fortunately for the ladybirds, but not for me, there is a large supply of black aphids. Technical Details: Camera: Nikon D200 / Lens: Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 / ISO: 800 / Flash: Speedlight SB-800 / Exposure: 1/250 sec at f/32 Post Processing: Photoshop CS3 © 2008 John Hooton Photography

  • I decided to make the most of the nice weather so my little girl & I played in the park.. I tried to take some good shots but she’s forever running from the camera, she’s very strong willed and everything always has to be her way so here it is! / P.S.. She’s also had a big hair cut this week :o) / Taken with Nikon D200, 14-24 wide angle lens

  • Here’s another one from today in the park. / Taken with a Nikon D200 & Nikkor 14-24mm wide angle lens.

  • On a brisk winter day, a Bald Eagle rests on a sunny Maple branch. Every few minutes, he switches resting legs and gives them a good stretch, before tucking that one up into his feathers for a rest and warm up. The Bald Eagle has up to a seven foot wing span. They are one of the largest birds of prey in the world. Adults are 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall and weigh 8 to 15 pounds. Like many predatory birds, the female is larger than the male ( about 1/3 larger), but size cannot be used conclusively for identification. Photo taken with canon 40D and Canon EF 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6 IS L lens. Taken in Raw and edited in Lightroom2. Taken on Dec 28/08 at 12:50 pm. 1/200’s at f/11, 400mm, Kelvin 6250

  • Image straight from the camera. Taken on January 11, 2009 with an Olympus FE-340 It was the first day of the year that the weather in London was beautiful so I spent the day outdoor walking through the parks, and the squirrels are very friendly. This particular shot was in Green Park. While I was trying to set-up my camera to take a photo, this little guy suddenly climbed up my leg! (I missed the opportunity to take its picture while it was there) I looked down at it, and it looks to the side as though saying “I didn’t do anything…” (see image in first comment), then it runs behind me and tries to climb up my knapsack; then runs in front me, spirals up the pole and pokes its head to the side going “Peek-a-boo!” After it climbed down I brought my hand out. It grabbed my finger for a little while, but took off before I could get a picture then :-( ... But atleast I captured the funny Peek-a-boo moment! The light and dark areas in the eye may look like the iris and the sclera of the eye, but that is actually caused by reflections; The dark bit at the bottom left corner of the eye is a reflection of myself with the camera:
