The phone rang and I said…
This is a short story based on the death of one of my good friends… in her dying, she helped me find my living… I have edited the swearing out in case I offend sensibilities. It still reads OK…

The view from ch3rrybl0ss0m’s window reminded me of this song by Loud Reed. Presumptuous of me, I know. Hell, maybe the girl likes smog.

I was reading in today’s Age about the uber groovy thing, particularly in Melbourne right now, of having a fixed wheel bicycle. There’s so much to like in the story. Bike couriers got the thing going. They “organically” decided that a fixed wheel bike (one gear only, no coasting) was just the ticket for what they have to do. A simple bike is less desirable to pinch and the basic mechanics means less repairs. Ordinary bike riders noticed and it seems that now a fixed wheel bike is the thing to have. Better still, it’s considered down-market to own a new one. Doing up an old bike is de rigueur. Totally cool. Real recycling. Of course the op shop clothes enthusiasts have been into real recycling for a long time. (Is there anything sexier than a woman who has the taste to use the mish-mash of op shop clothes to put together a killer outfit? Not to my eye there ain’t.) Yeh to people-led recycling.

Hi It may have been noticed that recently there’s been a naming convention on pics I’ve created, if you’ve spotted then this is the explanation. After 160 plus pics, two front page images, about four challenge wins (I think) and about 20 featured images this Friday marks one year since I started on Redbubble. I’ve had almost as many views on this site as I’ve had in six years on my Musecube account, a milestone I could foresee from the very beginning indicating the traffic on this site was going to mean staying. I couldn’t wait to start a calendar and had one as soon as there were enough pics (it’s still there). I’m a host of four groups having started three myself with one more on the waiting list and to mark this occasion I will be creating a new calendar. It actually feels strange when I look at my other sites and how there’s been almost no activity on to many of them, except on Deviantart, I get a bit of a guilt feeling actually not at least trying to update them. The calendar will feature a series of photos inspired by the song Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin which will be named using lines from the song. The photos were taken between 2005 and 2009. I understand this could be a permission and copyright nightmare, particularly when one recalls how fervently that band has fetched the lawyers in the past. Though this seems to be, outside of bad renditions on that song, almost always at concept and imitators whenever they were about to reform. The calendar is on Redbubble at this moment and will go through a bit of editing before I hit the Make For Sale button at ideally on that day at 9am GMT Cheers Mark

...and it’s my first weekend of my new schedule where I DON’T work weekends and don’t have to have a 6am start for work ever again! Yahoo!! And so, in honor of that, and all that is good in life, here’s some music that’s really making my friday night. Hope it’s good for you too! KISS Rock ‘n Roll all Night! I already linked this in one of Linaji’s posts but it was so much fun I had to repeat it here. :o) And Zoo inspired me with this to listen to Led Zeppelin and I so enjoy this Pete Townsend tune, I would so love to be able to perform this one acoustically myself! Got any tunes you’re groovin’ on tonight? I’m sippin’ a little whiskey, celebrating that I don’t have to work for 3 whole days, my feet are feeling better with every tip of the bottle into my little glass with a few ice cubes, link a song or two here if you’re up and tuned in! heh heh Oh! and for those of you who are curious, still waiting to hear from the spa but I do know that she’s checking my references, that’s a good thing, right?! :o)
