Canon Powershot with IR filter “As Is” / Brandywine Falls Ohio / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / I have been waiting for this kind of shot for a long time. The storms were fierce with a ton of rain last night. I decided to take of work and spend the day at the falls near my house. I must have snapped 200 pictures today. What a great day!! I found a new toy its my infrared lens. What you see is what you get. Submitting to the As Is group. Poyner’s Creek…Untouched by humans or any editing. This is one of the first shots I took w/ my new to me nikon D50. And this is a second from the same shoot with some edits.

These autumn colours and reflections were taken at Oakbank, Adelaide Hills, South Australia, Australia, in autumn (obviously). I used a Canon DSLR EOS 350D on a tripod. This is an HDR shot. I used 3 shots merged together with Photomatix Pro. This was details enhanced.

On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. by BigDBest View Larger Feature in All Countries ~ Wetlands, Ponds, Lakes and Rivers group. / Feature in JPG Cast-Offs group. I love this place as a young boy because I grew up here. Us boys used to walked several several miles just to swim at this pond before it was develop. This was taken on 10/14/2008 in the morning. The place is in the village of Potterville, PA. My camera was a Rebel XTi with a Sigma 17-70mm lens and a circular polarizer. Other equipment was a tripod and calbe release. Edited in HDR software. Click view larger to really see the beauty. / /

WHat particularly drew me to this scene were the patterns of light and shadow on the rocks and leaves. Taken on an Autumn afternoon in Jacob’s Fork River, South Mountain State Park, NC. Figuring out a way to get from one slippery and mossy rock to another in order to take the photo was a real challenge too-especially carrying tripod and camera equipment. / Nikon D50, 42mm,F22 ,2 sec / /

“Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

Some time back, I visited Newstead Abbey in Notinghamshire. It is the former home of the writer Lord Byron. We had a nice family day out, walking around the grounds and into the designed gardens. I took this shot in the Japanese garden. I had to lay down on the muddy bridge to get this shot and several more like it, but it was worth getting dirty. This is an old infrared shot. I’ve been doing lots of portraits lately and haven’t had the opportunity to shoot much infrared . I found this one on the hard drive and had a little play with it. It was taken at a place called Little Pelican, down near Swansea. It’s part of Lake Macquarie.

What a magical place this is Natural Bridge (also known as Natural Arch), in the World Heritage-listed, Springbrook National Park, Queensland, Australia. Over millions of years, the waters of the mountain fed Cave Creek has worn away at the basalt cave roof, to create this natural wonder. Home to a colony of glow-worms, only visible after sunset. The short hiking walk takes you through some beautiful rainforest, most of the time, you can hear the falling waters of these falls. A must see if you come to the area! Canon 50D, 14mm. Available large, and definately best viewed Large!

/ I was down at Okanagan beach this afternoon taking some photographs when I noticed the reflection of some tree tops with the light shining through them in this puddle. Thought it looked almost like the leaves in the puddle were falling onto the trees…..seemed kind of magical to me :)
