Got your attention? The problem is, I haven’t got one, but other people do. As I was growing up, my mum said “if you are gay, it doesn’t matter, I love you” so many times I asked her if she wanted me to be gay. (I’m not) I grew up hearing about the conflict other people had, in other countries, with a mother who would do what she could to help (via Amnesty International). The old ‘best friend’ story-one of my oldest friend, who’s known me since she was two, finally came out a few years ago. We asked her what took her, cos we all knew: even in the most accepting environments, it’s not easy. I knew from the first 5minutes of meeting the BF’s mate (on the goldcoast last year) he was fully homophobic. I promptly told him if he went on about it anymore, I’d assume he was gay. Protest, protest. He protests too much. Then, the BF’s mate was down on the weekend. For the week. And again, proceeded to go on about it. To make jokes. (amongst the swearing, shopping sprees to Armani, and clouds of deodorant. Then hours on xbox). I’d had it up to here. I told him in no uncertain terms that people I love are gay, friends and family. They may not be here now, but I can’t laugh at jokes like that, because if they were there, I’d be insulting them, and he was insulting me by talking like that about gay people. That here in Sydney, people are tolerant of gay people, and don’t make a big issue about it. And I won’t let him be around my friends, hearing him talk like that. Of course, he has no ability to reply here. He promises he’s joking and wouldn’t say those things around anyone else. He knows it’s not appropriate. (not around me either buddy) I’m doing the parent-child thing telling him off. But you know what? I just read in the paper a guy and his partner (who I went to school with) have been bashed. His partner needed surgery, and will never look the same. The police said there’s not much they can do. They had to fight to get the CCTV footage, before it’s written over. The thieves took their phones and have called his mum, telling him they’ve killed her son. That is sick. Did you know something like 90% of bashings are sexuality related? That figure may not be 100% accurate. All that matters is that it’s happened to two people too many. If the police’s attitude is like that, many more too many. We as artists have a voice, and t-shirts to raise awareness, to design images and slogans that promote goodness in the world. I’m saddened that violent images perpetuate. That violence has been cool. Call me a hippy, but though love is sometimes seems harder. but it’s worth the effort. It takes effort. but it actually makes our lives better. There is another person to love, rather than hate in our world. Ironically, (as I say ‘tolerate’) I couldn’t stay at home with a person speaking like that in the house. I do not tolerate that talk. I told him what I’d thought, and out of respect to the BF, didn’t kick him out-it was good timing for me to take a holiday somewhere else. I think that sent the message, despite the fact I didn’t change his opinion (I can’t make him). I’m not sure what else to say, but if you have a problem with gay people, get over it. If you can’t quite do that, go play football, hit a punching bag or rev your car that little bit louder. We know you’re macho enough. We’d probably like you anyways, if you weren’t. Seriously, that behaviour is better than hurting someone we love. Knowing that, maybe we can laugh about how silly those people were, to once behave like that, and enjoy a better reality. That includes you.

I am trying to decide between staying on RB or leaving…. I’m finding less time to dedicate and although I do love this community, my sense of duty – to look at your work and try and be encouraging, is not so much flagging, but the time thing is killing me. My brain seems to need more “down time” (I have an acquired brain injury cause by a massive stroke nearly 5 years ago) Oh this decision is so bloody hard. Why would I not just take a break and “visit” whenever I feel able – my sense of duty kind of drives me. Any genuine comments are more than welcome.

This has been a big year in so many ways, so much change, and re-structuring. I am glad that I gave myself the space to feel, notice, ab…
This has been a big year in so many ways, so much change, and re-structuring. I am glad that I gave myself the space to feel, notice, absorb / all the different processes of grief, attachment, separation and really come / to some ground about how I want to live my life. There really is no way to describe this journey. I am blessed to have some very very dear friends, and / to be part of a spiritual community and teachers, that have supported me / so that my heart can heal, breathe and stretch into new ways of accepting. Just recently I have been aware of an old story/pattern of being that is flaring / up resistance before I leave for Europe.It is about really trusting myself, and knowing that my own guidance system has been actively serving me since I was a small child. I recognise that I am different now, that / the change is cellular, energetic and soul based and SO can no longer make the old patterns anymore. I can’t go back. Once there is expansion / I cannot stay small anymore. This trip means that my mother’s ashes finally go home to rest, for me it is / alot more. It means re connecting with my family, feeling the energy and dynamics of them, my land , the memories of my beginning, and hopefully / a time when I will be able to put some of my own past to rest finally. I want this trip to be an awakening of spirit, joy and aliveness. I want to be happy. I know my mother would want me to soar like a bird, be free and / find my desires, my dreams and live them. May this blessing return to you so that / you feel just as supported, and cared for as I do ….... Stay tuned, Two more sleeps Love Ena xox

For those that like stories and updates, / for you that have said “I like to read what is going on / for you” this is for you I would li…
For those that like stories and updates, / for you that have said “I like to read what is going on / for you” this is for you I would like to share some joy and maybe add a sneaky / request perhaps if it appears naturally to ask…. let’s see My life currently is turning into / boxes and MORE boxes, each one gets labelled / some are fragile and some easy to lift if you bend at the knees / and say ahhhhhh as you come up. Everyday is do a little clearing / a little letting go a little walk down memory lane as I uncover things / that tell me stories of my past of how far I have come. There is 30 years of me from then and now in this house / every room has mama stories and lots of my secret ones / I can see all the rooms I hid from her to protect her / where I hid because I thought if I showed then there would be no room / for me ….there were doors too, ones that over time were opened to reveal / the mutual ok-ness of us, of being, of our unusual alliance. Now the rugs have been sold on ebay and I can hear the sound of my walking / I can hear the sound of the emptiness as it becomes empty and I am sure / I can hear the days ahead. I am sure I can hear myself way ahead laughing / somewhere. The garden is over run with more weeds than have ever been seen in it’s ordinary / history, there are more weeds with flowers and so there are more bees, more / butterflies, more messages from the dragonflies. I cannot see the / plants we planted together with my daughter inside with my mother / watching from the kitchen window. / I can see them winking through the long tall grass at me promising me / olives and limes / figs and nectarines in other worlds to come. And there are the roses, the beautiful roses that gave us both so much / joy every year / outdoing their brilliance with their velvet red song. I know that / digging up their roots will / not bring her back. I think I can leave without them. I think I will. I am grateful to this time to this place to my moving step by step / into more of who I am. / I ask every morning “Please a little help some easy help in lettin go” / and everyday some book some furniture some crockery something leaves / and finds itself needed and wanted / by someone somewhere else, and the glow of this flowing to and from is / my healing. / It moves and connects and gives sanctuary. So I now hear the asking, / if you feel / it too then come and keep me close company in this flow of little by / little letting go. / I know there is so much more to come. I am sure I can hear myself way ahead laughing / somewhere.
