  • Enjoy!

  • Of the two albino squirrels that I shot this morning, one was still a little sleepy. I was trying to get a clear shot of his entire head, but I couldn’t get the angle needed. Still, that twig was gripped in the squirrel’s hind foot, so I guess it was a good trade-off. It was also a rare treat to catch this little critter sleeping. The more that I look at this picture, the more that I love it. I can’t look at it now without smiling. I also now tend to reflect upon the helplessness of nature as man continues to invade their environment. How many animals will lose their homes to man’s quest for more profit today, tomorrow, the years ahead?

  • Amazingly there are 20 species of Magpie in the world. Not quite sure which I have painted here… looks more like an Australian magpie Many people consider them superstitious, they certainly have their place in folklore, some believe they bring good luck, others believe bad. I remember being played Rossini’s Thriving Magpie when I was quite young; it is said they have a panache for shiny, silvery things which they like to steal and hide. / Here the magpie has found a key! I wonder where it came from? I see him as a ‘Keeper of Secrets’. / The selected text comes from a traditional rhyme I was told as a child: One for sorrow, Two for joy, / Three for a girl, Four for a boy, / Five for Silver, Six for Gold / Seven for a secret never to be told This is an acrylic painting on canvas.

  • Portraits of Hope

  • This image was captured at Enniskillen Orchard which is a part of the Hawkesbury Harvest and the Sydney Farm Gate Trail. / The photo is straight from my camera, which is one of the reasons I am so happy with it, everything just seemed to work! / This is what I consider to be the first successful insect macro I have taken, I was really happy with the composition.. I hope you like it! / As always it is best viewed large.. / Taken at lifesize (1:1) with a reversed 50mm f1.8 nikon lens..

  • Mixed Media & Digital Illustration. When you hold yourself hostage, be it in a physical or mental nature, you may be depriving yourself of something potentially beautiful, holding back from the truth trying to cage away the bits you don’t like and revealing only what you think others will approve of. Also available as a T-Shirt / (c) REO 2008

  • Pure Watercolour on Arches 140lb…. I try to paint all my flowers from life, No pre drawing, just wetting the paper, dropping in some pale washes of pigment and see where it takes me.. It allows so much more freedom…..

  • MARION CHAMPMAN is a wonderful artist and a lover of patterns and design.. Printmaking and experimenting with all kinds of materials and colors.. she really turns my head.. Marion… truth be told.. Kauai is not a very pastel-y place.. so I took my photo and gave it a Marion Wash.. I love this shot..I do not know what this is but I spent some time with this guy..It was a very tall tree and that is how the leaves grow on it.. no branches!! Marion’s Chapman’s Pastels inspired Maddy of Smudge ARt Fame to write a most lovely lovely piece.. My gratitude for the Love here is ever growing.. Thank YOu Maddy! What beauty is this I behold ? / “A feast to ones eye”, I am told. / Leaves wrapped in soft hues. / Colors of gold, red and spiritual blues. “A tree without branches ”, she did say. / Just leaves that enfold it in every way. / Lina sad, this tree amazed me so, / I could not look at it and just let it go. It inspired me until I returned home, / In my minds eye, this is the tone. / I know Creator left this for me to do, / So I painted it gold, red and spiritual blue.

  • Taken in ‘Roman woods’, Cambridge. NOT ‘as is’

  • available in art version too

  • Canon 400D, 100mm macro lens.

  • I also experimented with this image in photoshop. I cut, cropped and merged two flowers from two different pictures together. I dusted them lightly with clouds (photoshop brushes) of different colors, basic brushes, special effect brushes and sharpened the image (filter gallery). I also altered the color (filter forge) and detail. Then I added swirls and leaves (more photoshop brushes) and added some style to it. I love the way this came out!!
