  • Mix medium; collaged painting. Red leaves on yellow.

  • This intimate, bright yet dark, static yet flowing, autumn themed image was made in Baxter State Park, Maine, USA in October 2006. I like the contrast of the flowing water beneath the still branches, the pop of color from the remaining birch leaves, and the juxtaposition of the branch atop the stream in tone and color! /

  • This is a watercolor using a reverse painting method. By painting the background in layers, while adding new layers of shapes, colors become more and more vibrant. The lightest colors are the oriignal background colors. It’s a great method, and one I like to teach to my students. / I originally started doing this years ago as an experiment, and also as a different way to ‘preserve’ leaves in the fall.

  • WHat particularly drew me to this scene were the patterns of light and shadow on the rocks and leaves. Taken on an Autumn afternoon in Jacob’s Fork River, South Mountain State Park, NC. Figuring out a way to get from one slippery and mossy rock to another in order to take the photo was a real challenge too-especially carrying tripod and camera equipment. / Nikon D50, 42mm,F22 ,2 sec / /
