  • Of the two albino squirrels that I shot this morning, one was still a little sleepy. I was trying to get a clear shot of his entire head, but I couldn’t get the angle needed. Still, that twig was gripped in the squirrel’s hind foot, so I guess it was a good trade-off. It was also a rare treat to catch this little critter sleeping. The more that I look at this picture, the more that I love it. I can’t look at it now without smiling. I also now tend to reflect upon the helplessness of nature as man continues to invade their environment. How many animals will lose their homes to man’s quest for more profit today, tomorrow, the years ahead?

  • I was off to take some photographs of some waterfalls in the Breacon Beacons in Wales when I almost missed this scene. Had there not been a break in the cloud I may have missed it. It was probably the best drive by shooting photograph I have to date. I’ve had a little play in photoshop and thought I’d post the results. / The original was shot using a Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 27mm, f/8, 1/60 sec, ISO 400. No filters used and mounted on the car door. • I lost about 8 years of work due to a accidental click of a delete key in 2004, I stupidly had not backed up the work. Two days ago while clearing out the loft I found the photo of the girl with some others I thought had been lost forever, phew. The shot of the girl was taken in Sailsbury, Wiltshire, UK 2002 at a Civil War Reenactment and the the background is a lovely walk through Ashridge, Bedfordshire UK, which I took yesterday, I have added a few textures to the overall blend. The composite work has been done in photoshop CS4. I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Girl / Canon D60, 70-200mm at 200mm, f/5.6, 1/250 sec, ISO 400. / No filters used and hand held. • I am sure that deer, especially, really enjoy their morning solitude. Their needs are small, safety, food, water and a quiet spot, in the morning, much like we like morning coffee or tea or whatever our routine. This image has it all. The mist is rising as the sun climbs up out of it’s slumbering state. It is Autumn and so the foliage reflects that. The reflections are calm, for this is a stream that doesn’t flow fast, but takes it’s time getting where it wants to go. The whole tempo here is at a very slow pace, the message is wake up slowly because one never knows what the day will bring. Background image taken at River Bridge off of highway 62 on the way to Union Creek, Oregon. The image was softened in Dreamy photo, I then used layers to make any changes. Using a layer mask, I erased the mist over some of the water in the foreground, so that the reflections would be clearer. I then added the autumn leaves in the right foreground as composite layers and then added the small deer as a composite layer.
