Some of the remains of the old Barwonside Tannery established by James Munday, around 1870, along the banks of the Barwon River, Geelong. This is one of many fellmongering and tanning businesses established in the area surrounding the river. / The Barwonside Tannery produced fancy leathers, such as moroccos, kid and coloured roans, while his original tannery, across the river( established in 1866) continued producing ordinary leather for shoe soles and uppers.
