  • I hear, I see, I learn

  • And as I learn I’ll share with you The thorny rose still fresh with dew, Where faeries weave their webs of thought And sprinkle them with words they’ve caught. I’ll stand there listening to the winds And kiss the Spirits that they send. The feathery touch of aerial ones. Sweet muses of the midnight sun, Whispering words of softest wisdom, Caressing us with gentle freedom. I’ll share with you all that I learn, And then one day twill be your turn To hold the rose still fresh with dew Where faeries wait for me and you. • I feel that my own personal inspiration comes from the knowledge and understanding I have of my very being, and of my open-mindedness and willingness to learn what already inspired spirits have to share……(That’s all of you)…. I am forever and continually striving for more of that precious knowledge. Walter Russell wrote in 1947 in his book “The Secret of Light” the following….“Inspiration can never be produced. It can but be reflected from one inspired mind to another recognizing one. Idea and inspiration may be echoed from spirit to spirit but they can never become product of matter in motion”. I recognize and accept this theory as being true and I thank all of those inspired minds that have passed their inspiration on to me! Rather than name names, I would much rather be general but rest assured that I am very sincere when I say that my inspiration has grown by leaps and bounds by my association with so many very talented artists, photographers, writers, etc. here on Redbubble……….Thank you one and all…! • What we do.

  • Also seen in Flickr. Shorncliffe is a suburb of Brisbane, Australia. It is situated northeast of Brisbane and is the neighbouring suburb of Sandgate. In 1865 a company was formed to construct the pier, and it was finished in 1872. The pier still stands reaching out into the bay over a century later. The pier is the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race in April and is an element in many photographs and pieces of art circulating in Brisbane art galleries. With views of Redcliffe peninsula, the Boondall Wetlands, Moreton Bay Islands and the Shorncliffe cliffs, the pier is a feature in the nautical landscape of this northside Brisbane suburb. In late 2000 the pier was refurbished and repainted. Currently the boardwalk leading to the pier and the adjoining parks are undergoing large scale renovations which are aimed at attracting tourists to the area and reclaiming its bayside suburb character. • OK, I know that as far behind as I am here, the last thing I should do is this drawing thing. But it seems to be the foundation I lack. I can’t draw well enough to do what I want to do. I can’t afford to go to school for it so I need to learn how and improve on my own. Will you guys help? I just drew this “self-portrait” in Corel Painter Essentials 4. It took approx. 9 minutes. There are no effects or editing, it’s just drawing and painting (charcoal and watercolor). It’s better than most of what I’ve done in the past. It looks a lot like me, except I’m a little heavier and my hair looks a little worse, to be very honest. I’m actually wearing socks, no shoes, so the featureless feet are sort of OK. BUT!! There’s a lot wrong with it. / 1. The sofa has no weight, no depth. I tried, but couldn’t figure out how to shape the darkening to show depth. 2. My body has no weight on the sofa: I appear to have no mass. I look like I’m floating on it. I tried but couldn’t figure out how to do that. 3. My face is featureless…I was afraid to go farther into detail and add the small things: lines, bone structure, etc. because I didn’t know how to do that with muddying it all up under my glasses. 4. The hands are pretty bad…they’re the best I’ve ever done, but they don’t look human enough. And, like the face, they lack detail. 5. I know that I should have used those vanishing point lines to make the entire thing look like it was real, but when I do that I make things worse and don’t know why. 6. The shadows cast by things are really odd and diffuse, probably because I didn’t plan on a light-source. OK, I’ve started things off. PLEASE, you draw-ers out there, you fabulous people-who-can-make-things-look-like-things, tell me what else I need to improve! I’m going to be trying to learn how to draw over the next few weeks. I’ve said that before but it was idle wishing, I think, and I never followed through. Now I can see that without it I’m doomed to messing around and trying to get lucky with shapes. Feel free to be honest. Seriously.
