In a magical moment between night and day, there is a special place and time. The time between seconds, when light and dark both have equal play. / So quick, so fleeting, this special time. / The blink of an eye and it is gone again. / The catch of a breath in the cold morning air, this special time between. / It is my passion to capture this time. / To freeze it and hold it forever. / An endless journey, an endless quest. / This one small moment in time. / Deri Dority 2007
Taken at Hampstead Heath, North London.
Oil on canvas. Size 24” x 24” In the group “fabulous flowers” this painting won 6th place in the challenge “the most fabulous lily”.

This is another one of the flowers from my show and poems for her. The sunrises as it usually does and lifts my spirits high. / I take a moment to realize that its morning once again. / A new day to carry on with my troubled life. / But as I rush out the door I pause to give you thanks. / I thank the lord for all I have not much in some peoples eyes. / But I have a bed and a home thats good enough for me. / I have a roof that keeps me dry and food up on my table. / And its not much but what I have your welcome at my table. / I have room for you my troubled friend your journeys just begun. / But here you can rest awhile before you go again. / And as you shine your light on me my body feels its rays. / I know you’ll stay just for an hour and then your off again. / I look for you each day sometimes you never show. / But when you do you offer me more than you can ever know. / You grace my table with your smile and give me hope to live. / And when I look down at my table I thank God for what I have. / You shine your light on my life and make it all worthwhile. / I’ll look for you tomorrow morning your always welcome here.

I was trying out a new lense and don’t think it’s quite sharp enough but it’s a work in progress. I am still not satisfied with my Canon and it’s sharpness. Maybe or I am sure it’s me but my 5.1 megapixel Sony can take a dead on sharp shot 1:1. Just working out the kinks in the Canon 40D.

This is the matting that is found on and around the branch of a Canary Island Palm Tree. The branch had been laying on the ground overnight after the frond had been removed. / The bright colouring on the bottom end is where it came into contact with the actual stem of the frond.. / Best viewed enlarged by clicking on image / ( no extra colour has been added ) taken with a p&s Panasonic Lumix FZ30 and is set on Manual Macro. / Also x2 images for hdr with Picasa3 as Post Op. =============
I took this just after sunrise this morning. The sun was shining through the leaves and made quite a nice shot.
