  • Cute lil ladybug! I really don’t have much to say about this one. I was actually taking some other shots in my garden when this lil cutie scampered up upon a petal and sat there watching me :giggle: Perhaps he was jealous and wanted to be part of the action! / S/he was so small, barely the size of the tip of my lil finger :D © SilverDew All comments are welcomed and appreciated. • I hope you enjoy this pretty little butterfly that I took in my garden this past summer :) He didn’t seem to mind me poking around with my camera… I was glad of the opportunity! He didn’t stay long but I managed to get a few good shots! I adore the markings and colourings of his wings! Isn’t that red/orange colour just stunning! I’m very proud of this photo, I really love how it turned out. Looking back and my gallery from beginning to now, I can truly see how I have grown as a photographer and this fact makes me very happy and accomplished  Certainly I have a long way to go yet, but the nice thing about this hobby is that I am very passionate about it. Hopefully some day I can do something more with photography. That’ll be so amazing! Thanks to the investigative brilliance of a friend, I’ve found out the name of this pretty butterfly! It is called “American Lady – Vanessa virginiensis” They seem to be common to New England, though I am guessing generally on the East coast (since I’m in Virginia ^^;) and are under the category of “Anglewings” Camera: Taken with a Canon Rebel XTi / Cropping, small hue/tint adjustments + Sig: Adobe Photoshop CS2 © SilverDew All comments are welcomed and appreciated. • The “Silverdust” Dusty Miller is such an interesting ornamental garden plant. The fronds are arranged in a spiral pattern and are covered with a soft “frosty” coating that is almost as delicate as a butterfly’s wings. The “lobes” tend to look like the antlers of a reindeer (or a famous cartoon moose, right rocky?) This photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D with a Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact-Macro prime lens. The shutter speed was 1/60th sec at f/11. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist. • Taken at Stover Country Park, Newton Abbot, South Devon. England, UK This is “NOT” the real silver foil leafing that you may find in shops etc. / This is a plugin effect that gives pretty much the same effect to any image. I hope you like this one as I do !! / Thanks for looking.
