Cypress trees growing in Lake Martin in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, are especially beautiful in autumn when they turn russet and golden and red and cast their reflections in the water below them.

I added a lamp to the front for this arrangement because the shadows were too dominant, and because the reflection could be so much more significant with the colours lit up like this. /

Those aren’t two rocks in the foreground. That is water pooled up reflecting the stone past the cave opening. This needs to be viewed larger to understand it. I look at it and go back and forth between normal view and larger and it still plays with my mind. The tiniest water droplets on a teeny leaf, reflecting flowers in the background. Completely unedited, straight off camera. I’m so excited to have beautiful fall colors this year! For the past few years we’ve either had wind storms that stole all our leaves before the colors were ready, or everything just skipped right to brown. This photo was taken at Oak Opening Metropark in NW Ohio.
