Rain on leaf (medium DOF)
Foggy October morning. Norway. Canon EOS 5D with Canon EF 50mm f/1.4
Morning sun creating the autumn foliage to become more golden.
Simply a leaf I found untouched on the road with dew on it… I love how the dew magnifies the texture.

I think we consider too much the good luck of the early bird and not enough the bad luck of the early worm. Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945)
This is just a simple shot I took of a leaf overturned and covered in water drops after and autumn rain shower.
Early morning backyard macro. Off shoot from my Colours Take Over Series. Nikon D300.
This is not one of the flowers from my show and poems for her but will be in my book. Mornings break and you are there safe beside my side. / My sleep was filled with lovely things the whole night through. / I danced and ran through the woods with you holding hands. / We stopped to watch a robin sign as the sun came up. / And then we ran a little more until we stopped to kiss. / The woods so cool in mornings light we wondered at the sight. / The mist was coming off the earth as we watched it move. / And not far off in the distance we saw a lovely thing. / A baby doe with mom in tow running through the mist. / We stopped to watch this lovely sight and kissed a little more. / And then you took me by the hand and then we ran some more. / You laughed I laughed we were children once again. / We stopped to watch a toad come out from his sleeping place. / And blink his eyes as morning came its time to find a fly. / And as we ran an eagle flew high above the trees sounding out the alarm that mornings finally come. / We ran some more until we came to our favorite place. / High above the oceans reach as we looked far out. / We watched as waves came tumbling in as we held each other. / And then you looked me in the eyes and said this must be heaven. / And in my dream we were so young as dreams so often do. / But as I lie here in this bed your beauty has not changed. / I look at you and think about how much we share together. / The woods so cool and so sublime at this time of day. / And here we were in my dream lovers once again.
This morning, while Chace and I took a little walk, he discovered this pretty leaf caught in a web and was fascinated with it. It is wonderful to see beauty through a child’s eyes. :o) As Is. Nikon D40 18-55mm Nikkor lens.

The smooth ethereal effect of my camera’s long exposure on a horizontal view of the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River in Sequoia National Park. For the record, I had slipped and fallen into this raging river perhaps 10 minutes previously. After removing soaked clothes and regaining my composure and thanking God I didn’t drown, I set up my camera and tripod and shot this upstream image. Camera: 5D, polarizing lens on a Canon 24-70mm lens, 5 sec, exposure, ISO speed 50, focal length 51.0, White Balance-Shade, and a few adjustments in Photoshop.
She rests among the mosses / A shrine of wood and wishes / In this quiet sunlit forest / She is peaceful, not forgotten. / Zazzle / DeviantART / - / a dryad-treestump maiden, who twisted into place, / my pencilling too messy, so wood flowed round her face. / And grasses grew around her, and roots twisted round her wrist, / and from the slender sapling behind her, rose a girl of leaves and mist. I rather liked the concept and the curvy way she posed, / so as soon as the tablet was mine again, a sketch on the screen arose… / It wasn’t quite abstract or anime, nor a gentle blushing bride / and so out of wood I carved her and let the paint decide, And the leaves spread out around her, as I sprinkled and I spun / And brown and green around her, the trees grew one by one. / The steps I saw quite clearly, but the details made me yawn / So I looked up ruins and flung dabs, until perspective was born. And moss and sunlight gathered and layers flowed and split / And the hours flew silently by, until I was forced to quit. / But the quiet woodland waited, and the headless idol watched / Until I woke this morning and added bark metallic and notched… And the trees sprang up behind, and the flowers crept over the steps / And the sun lanced through the trees and everywhere shadows crept… / Roses of orange and yellow were added on a whim / and in the offering bowl lies a lily blurred and dim. ‘Til at last I could not deny her, she had to have a head, / Although I tried to distract her by painting her fingers instead. / The shiny coins didn’t sway her, and empty was this wood, / until I shaped her a face and swept over her a hood. Then sprouted a few last flowers, and a twisting thorny vine / Along the lowest terrace, its thorns as dark as wine / But I’ve worked on this seven full hours and new ideas have grown, / So posting and moving on now, before my muse has flown.
The timbered bridge with autumn leaves
Taken last fall, near Aspen, Co. I loved the golden early morning light filtering through the trees over the water. :) Post processing in CS4 to create an Orton effect. / Oct 7, 2008 8 : 30am / Olympus E-510 / F3.5 / 1/100th / Zuiko 50mm / ISO 100 Thank you for looking :)
Capturing the atmosphere of a springtime bloom, in Ashridge wood, Hertfordhire. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/2.8, 1/320 sec, ISO 100. No filters used and hand held. A small amount of dust and scratches removed in photoshop. I was off to take some photographs of some waterfalls in the Breacon Beacons in Wales when I almost missed this scene. Had there not been a break in the cloud I may have missed it. It was probably the best drive by shooting photograph I have to date. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 27mm, f/8, 1/60 sec, ISO 400. No filters used and mounted on the car door. I was off to take some photographs of some waterfalls in the Breacon Beacons in Wales when I almost missed this scene. Had there not been a break in the cloud I may have missed it. It was probably the best drive by shooting photograph I have to date. I’ve had a little play in photoshop and thought I’d post the results. / The original was shot using a Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 27mm, f/8, 1/60 sec, ISO 400. No filters used and mounted on the car door. I then upped the exposure in photoshop with a layered PS approach and added some crows for effect. I hope you like it. © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
I lost about 8 years of work due to a accidental click of a delete key in 2004, I stupidly had not backed up the work. Two days ago while clearing out the loft I found the photo of the girl with some others I thought had been lost forever, phew. The shot of the girl was taken in Sailsbury, Wiltshire, UK 2002 at a Civil War Reenactment and the the background is a lovely walk through Ashridge, Bedfordshire UK, which I took yesterday, I have added a few textures to the overall blend. The composite work has been done in photoshop CS4. I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Girl / Canon D60, 70-200mm at 200mm, f/5.6, 1/250 sec, ISO 400. / No filters used and hand held. A morning of frustration and bedlam while building work was going on at home led to a slow, calming walk through Ashridge, Bedfordshire, UK. While revelling in the peace and quiet I stumbled on a dip in the forest which revealed the Autumn colours in a spot I’d never seen before. The leaves on the tree were this lovely rich colour and there was this light coming through the forest and giving the trunk a mottled effect. Everything happens for a reason. I hope you like it.
