views: 522 / favs: 15 Taken May 20, 2007 with a Fuji E-510. See my Miura Coast calendar. This rock in, known as Shiroyama (literally means “white mountain”), is located Arasaki Park (Yokosuka, Japan). Yokosuka is a city in Miura near Hayama, the town where I did my internship. Hayama is renowned for the beach and green hills, and this place was just a drive down. Hayama literally means “leaf mountain” in Japanese, and indeed Hayama is full of green mountains. The coast of Yokosuka, Hayama; along with other cities in Miura are popular for their beaches and offer a rich experience with nature. Oil Pastel and Acrylic on old wood with slight digital enhancements Ophelia, puzzled by the radical transformation that had taken place overnight to this butterfly friend of hers, thought to herself, “She was in a white thread-like casing yesterday, how did all that happen so fast? There must be something magical about that case!” This is inspired by a book Hope For The Flowers by Trina Paulus. This is a cute and yet thought provoking story about two caterpillars who because they mistake the meaning of their urge to get high, get entangled climbing a horrible “caterpillar pillar”. And for two caterpillars, we all know, surrendering to the cocoon is the only way to finally fly. Hope For the Flowers is a book that celebrates HOPE. My fave lines from the book is “How does one become a butterfly?” She asked pensively. “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.” We are all meant to be as beautiful and free like the butterflies, that’s our destiny…as we free ourselves to be who we really are…and together with our innate talents,we bring hope to the world around us, bringing change inevitably around us :D / You can view and buy my other “Metamorphosis” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:
Initially, this piece was about burying dreams. What happens when there’s nothing left but to let go of everything, abandon hope, and walk away to let God do what he pleases… 3 years later, still struggling, I found that a branch had in fact, taken root, with a stubborn leaf defiant against the barren land and winter sky… This piece took 3 years for me to complete. (Its not for sale because, due to size, I can’t get a reproduction that is good enough quality.) My faith holds as resolutely (and defiantly in the face of circumstances) as the leaf. Collage and acrylic ink. The branch is real. The leaf I made. (For the works on paper group: I made this on stretched butcher paper. I used that paper because it was brown and because I could actually stretch it over stretcher bars. I haven’t had much luck doing that with thicker papers. There are also countless papers collaged into the piece. The leaf is made entirely of papers—tissue papers and others.) Featured in Works on Paper. :) (1396 views)

The sunset colours, / the setting of the sun indicating an end to the unfathomable 2009 fires of black Saturday. The tall trees with limbs represent the entire families taken, / the saplings the young lives cut short. The child represents our hope, / the single leaf the renewable nature of our botany. The single yellow ribbon, / those millions who gave from their hearts in everyway they could. To this child the leaf is salvation and from where she stands it is all she can see. Here’s another image taken from yesterday’s photo expedition,,, I love the colours of autumn on the Mornington Peninsula so I just can’t help but try and capture it..

This is a crop of a bigger photo. I like how the big droplet looks on this one. Can you see the sky?
Lomo capture November 2009 Titled Serendipity because this leaf fell on my windshield as I was driving to work. I pulled over and had just enough time to snap the shot before the wind took it away again! I spent the rest of the day looking for pretty leaves and nice places to park to try and recreate the shot. Of all the photos I took, my “Serendipty” moment turned out the best! Canon Rebel xt Featured in Made By Nature on 11/29/2009 Top 10 placing in Made by Naure
