Heart of Gold is a mixed media production on watercolour paper / and one of my most recent paintings The painting itself was inspired by a response to Sylvia, the character in Bryce Courtney’s novel who led the Children’s Crusades during medieval times. In my painting, Sylvia is on a quest, just as I am, always searching for a heart of gold. She has the key to unlocking goodness and kindness and truth hanging from her belt, and she carries a staff with a beautiful flower and wears a crown, symbolising that she is both shepherdess and a leader of her people. Her horse also wears a heart around his neck. They rely on one another for support and encouragement during difficult times.

This is a captive animal that resides at the Living Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona. Cougar, one of the most maligned carnivores in North America. Like the grizzly bear and timberwolf, these large carnivores need lots of space to live, and when they go after livestock it is because they either are sick and malnourished from overpopulation as a result of human habitat destruction, or from a lack of natural prey also a direct result of human encroachment upon their native habitat. A big cat is going to do what evolution created a big cat to do and that is hunt and kill. As they say in sports, don’t hate the player (i.e. cougar), hate the game (i.e. habitat destruction)! /

Jim – is the senior volunteer Guide for the Bibbulmum Track here in Western Australia. / This was taken in the Dwellingup Hotel beer garden after an arduous four day walk in support of the Bibbulmum Track Foundations Corporate Challenge. A four day walk during which competitors in groups of four complete several land and water based activities. The Bibbulmum Track is a world acclaimed 1000 km walk only track from Perth to Albany on the states Southern Coast. Spaced about every 20 clicks or so are three walled huts with bunks, fire place and a bush toilet. I reckon Jim’s done about 6 or 8 full length walks. I saw this torn up photo of the Queen at an antique mart in Buenos Aires. I snapped a photo of it and restored it on PhotoShop. I still can’t get over how young she was here. I don’t think I’ve seen her this youthful and beautiful.

Featured in The Healing Journey / (Thanks Julie) Airbrush and mixed media This is a CD Cover project I am working on for DJ Cyrus, album title: Resurrection. Inspired by “Cyrus the Great” the Persian leader that was noted for creating some of the very first human rights acts so to speak. / My inspirations include some of the Persian symbols, “bird” and his “statue” inter weaved into this design along with some of the colors and flairs of my client. There are some Sci Fi and fantasy elements. / The end story is, “Cyrus” has been asleep or dead for a while and he has now been resurrected (how my client feels) and is starting over with more energy and power driven into his music. So that was the feeling I was trying to capture and illustrate in this work. Makarad is crazy for Seanna,, although she has never known this. He thinks she may have been kiddnapped and he is bursting through the water like the dolphin that he is. Swims as fast and can hear like them he is also very playful guy.
