A typically fast-flowing Lake District stream, this one on the walk to see the ospreys at Bassenthwaite Lake. / What I really liked about this (aside from the fallen trees placed there for us photographers by the Lake District National Park) was the vivid green and almost primeval scene. / And yes, we did get to see the ospreys when we got tot the viewpoint:) / Thanks for looking. / Richard Technical details: / Nikon D200 / Sigma 17-35mm @17mm / F16 1/2.5s / ISO 100 / Taken on a convenient rock using a ‘Pod’ beanbag as support. / Main post-capture work was a hefty amount of D-Lighting in Nikon Capture to bring out the shadows and a light ‘S’ curve. A little selective sharpening to finish off.
Like so much of the English Lake District, Ullswater never fails to provide yet another opportunity for a photograph. Rain or shine (and, yes, the former is far more common!), there is always a new view begging to be captured. / Thanks for looking. / Richard
Just for the heck of it, here is the same shot as the last one but in colour. / Richard

Replica statue of Jesus Christ known as The Christus at the Mormon visitor’s center at Temple Square, Salt Lake City, Utah
Just delving back a few years to a picture from Shap Abbey in Westmorland (now Cumbria) and on the eastern borders of the Lake District. More details of this wonderful abbey will follow if and when I get round to putting up some pictures! / However, as is so often the case with our treasured abbeys, the location of Shap Abbey is such a potent part of the whole experience. As you stroll towards the west tower you pass by the River Lowther with the blur of a dipper coming to rest on a stone to “dip” up and down before plunging into the rushing waters, whilst above, on the bank, trees, gnarled with age and battered by the harsh climate cling on to life for hundreds of years watching patiently as the abbey slowly returns to Nature’s grasp. / Thanks for looking, / Richard

Oldest Utah Temple
Taken from near the Joseph Smith Building. Textures were taken from Salt Lake Tabernacle Stones. If you are interested in textures, there are a lot of amazing textures on Temple Square.
Looks to be an old out of use LDS church. It is off of hwy 20, on the way to Sun Valley, Idaho. I have passed and thought of stopping to shoot this on several occasions but today in the snow covered prarie it called out….........”B&W”! / So I stopped.
