  • These wild berries decorated with water droplets are one of my personal favorites. This untouched photo was taken in the woods behind my house on a rainy morning in December 2007 with my old point and shoot camera. I wish the resolution was higher! These small wild berries that grow on a thorny vine are the size of a blueberry. I revisited this batch of berries several times after the rain in hopes of getting similar photos with my good camera, but Mother Nature has not repeated the same conditions. / . 3/9/09 – Top Ten in the Let’s Hunt Water challenge – The Scavenger Hunt group – thank you members!!!!!! • 9/11/09 ~ Featured in Wildflowers of North America ~ Thank you ♥ 8/12/09 ~ Featured in Shots in the Fog ~ Thank you!!! Pretty wildflowers (Loosestrife) taken 7/27/09 – on a misty morning along the banks of the St. Lawrence River near Clayton, New York. Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) – Purple loosestrife is a tall, multi-stemmed (30-50 per plant), perennial forb that can grow up to 10 ft. (3 m) in height. The opposite or whorled leaves are dark-green, lance-shaped, sessile, 1.5-4 in. (3.8-10.2 cm) long and round or heart-shaped at the base. Flowering occurs in July to October, when pink to purplish flowers develop in 4-16 in. (10.2-40.6 cm) long spikes at the tops of the stems. Flowers have 5-7 petals and twice as many stamens as petals. Purple loosestrife is a serious invader of many types of wetlands, including wet meadows, prairie potholes, river and stream banks, lake shores, tidal and non-tidal marshes, and ditches. One plant can produce as many as 2 million seeds per year. Purple loosestrife is native to Europe and Asia. It was first introduced into North America in the early 1800s for ornamental and medicinal purposes. It has also been used as a nectar plant for bee-keeping.

(The blurred blue/gray background is my driveway and part of my green lawn.) • 12/10/09 ~ Featured in Image Writing ~ Thank you ♥ 11/20/09 ~ Featured in Rural Around the Globe ~ Thank you kindly!!! :o) Two female cardinals in my Mimosa Tree. This is a digital compilation of two cardinals who landed in my tree at different times (same day). Original photos taken January, 2008. Cardinals: The female cardinal is a familiar backyard bird. It is a buff brown bird with tinges of red on crest and wings and a large red bill. They are non-migrators and eat seeds, insects and fruit and are common visitors at bird feeders. Cardinals can be very territorial in the spring and are know to fight their own reflections.

  • Sienna and I wish you a very Happy Holiday Season!!! In August, I took this photo of Sienna watching the birds through my patio door. For this digital compilation, I replaced the “outdoor” scenery with a picture of a snowy pine tree from my yard, added snowflakes, and a slight orton effect to add a dreamy effect for the holiday season!! I really don’t have too much time on my hands…. my housework, holiday wrapping, cards, and cooking are waiting for me!!!!!

  • Another wintry experiment with one of Sienna’s pictures (original photo shown below). She was standing in the snow along Clarks Creek, but I converted the picture to black and white, added falling snowflakes and a red holiday bow to make her look a bit more festive! / Original taken February 2008. It was fairly easy to make the snow. I just searched on the internet for a Photoshop tutorial to make snow and found it instantly. Here’s Sienna’s original picture: /
