  • I tend to like muted grayish colors, and my treatment of this shot is no exception. I figure in the infinite universe of flower photographs, it’s maybe just a little different than the brightly colored flowers. Not that this picture is vastly different than anything else, but the idea of being different is also reflected in that single white bloom.

  • Oil Pastel and Acrylic Ophelia dreamed she was on a journey to a foreign land. In that land, she encountered an exotic purple flower with 3 petals. Though strange in appearance,it had the most calming and relaxing scent Ophelia has ever known. Ophelia was most reluctant to leave this flower and its’ scent when she knew her dream odyssey had to come to an end soon. However, all endings are simply preludes to new beginnings :D / / View other “Dream Odyssey” creations in my Zazzle store: / / /

  • There is an ancient Chinese saying that goes like this: If there is light in the soul, / There will be beauty in the person. / If there is beauty in the person, / There will be harmony in the house. / If there is harmony in the house, / There will be order in the nation. / If there is order in the nation, / There will be peace in the world. / —Chinese Proverb You can view and buy my other “Light In The Soul” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

  • Featured in – The Birds, February 7, 2009 I can’t help but dream of summer, and much warmer temperatures, when I look at this image. This piece consists of 6 layers (the background, 5 different layers of pretty lavender blooms, and an adorable little american goldfinch). After merging all of the layers in PhotoShop I digitally painted the entire piece in Corel Painter X. My intent with the goldfinch was to make her look like a baby, that had just left the nest, and was still looking for Mom to bring her some food. / / Fine Art Gallery / Bird Gallery / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST

  • One night last summer, I was sitting in the kitchen waiting for my dad and sister to come home. The sun had just started thinking about settling down for the night. I walked outside for a moment, and suddenly I saw a narrow strip of light fall on these flowers. I ran back inside and fetched my camera, and got this shot just as my dad drove down the drive way.

  • A lovely flower head of the status plant creates this lovely mandala.

  • This blue Water Lily was taken at a private water lily pond in Ft. Myers, Florida. This again had changes made to the image in photoshop. The colors were made more intense, sharpening added, items removed that did not add to the image and the background was made black to bring out the color of the flower. Image was taken with my older Panasonic Lumix FZ20

  • i ‘Okika Honohono / Lovely Orchids blooming at Bully and Kappy’s home / Hana Maui Hawai’i There are many wonderful websites with information on Orchids. There are many groups, clubs and societies and over 20,000 varieties. Many orchids have succulent characteristics. They store water and nutrients in pseudobulbs, leaves and/or other parts of their anatomy. Fresh orchids and other tropical flowers create a unique tropical atmosphere perfect for a traditional or modern wedding theme here on Maui and are very beautiful woven into Haku Lei. Hardy terrestrial orchids include some the rarest & showiest perennials for the garden. These deciduous plants are indigenous to the temperate zones Eurasia and North America. They require woodland conditions for cultivation, preferring shade to part-shade and rich, well-draining soil; somewhat moist. Hardy orchids bloom at 3 – 6 years of age, depending upon the species. • Clematis from the Greek (klema) for branchlet. / There are over 400 wild varieties of native clematis, in fact most countries in the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere and to some extent in the southern hemisphere have species of clematis. For example, C. alpina is found in eastern Europe and C. cirrhosa in Mediterranean countries, C. vitalba in Britain, C. montana in India, C. lanuginosa in China, C. patens in Japan, C. aristata in Australia, C. afoliata in New Zealand and C. virginiana in America / Early plant collectors brought examples back to europe, which were soon to enrich it’s flora. One of the first to be introduced to England was C. viticella, which was brought from Spain in 1569. This was followed in 1596 by three other European species, C. cirrhosa, C. integrifolia and C. flammula. They were all used in hybridising programmes to produce new varieties. It was not until the 19th century that the stock for the large flowered clematis, which is so admired today was introduced from China, C. lanuginosa for example and C. patens from Japan. The Victorians took to clematis in a big way and the pioneering nursery of Jackmans once held a list of 343. Unfortunately the then little understood disease wilt, decimated the commercial stocks and it was not until after the second world war that nurseries were once more able to pursue serious large scale propagation. However the legacy of the Victorians does live on, many of the popular large flowered clematis available today come from the last century. /
