The Vicuna is the most delicate of the South American cameloids – it’s wool is reputed to be the finest and most expensive in the world. Lauca is a magnificent, high altitude park located in far Northern Chile. It straddlles the Chile-Bolivia border.

One of the highlights of the Parque Nacional Lauca in the far north of Chile are the volcanos Parinacota and Pomerape. The typical view of these volcanos is from a little further east, looking across Lago Chungará. However, I found las Lagunas de Cotacotaní far more beautiful and interesting. Lisa Germany Photography
