  • There´s this old classic Latinamerican song (“Angelitos Negros”/ “Little Black Angels”)_ it was created around the 40s, with music by M. Álvarez Maciste, and lyrics by Andrés Eloy Blanco, an important Venezuelan poet. / It has been sung not only by famous Latin American singers but by world-wide reknown artists such as Nina Pastori and Nana Mouskouri. Words reflect a sort of lament, a complaint: someone asking painters why they don´t paint black angels. Needless to say, it inmediately became an hymn to antirracism in its time. / I haven´t found any decent English translation of the song, here´s a verse for you to have an idea: / “Whenever you paint churches / You paint beautiful little angels / but you´ve always forgotten to paint / Little black angels”. Here´s the link to a YouTube video where famous mexican singer Pedro Infante sing “Angelitos Negros” during a scene of a movie with the same title: / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8V-EkTeX7U Here´s the most (known) popular segment of the song in Spanish: / / “Pintor nacido en mi tierra / con el pincel extranjero / pintor que sigues el rumbo / de tantos pintores viejos. I know this angel of mine is not so “little”; but it was the best way I could find to tribute this unforgettable song.

  • This is Inle, an Orisha (god) originally of the Yoruba religion. / His help is invoked for gravelly ill people. He lives in the shores of the rivers and in the sea. / He represents the spirit of good. Inle never did evil to anyone. He also was a healer. For this reason, many people receive Inle to rid themselves of certain diseases. This is basically a Cinema4D render, made in collaboration with Redbubble artist Artpearl / Photo/background images were blended with Photoshop; there´s also a bit of digital painting. / (CINEMA 4D is a commercial, cross-platform, high-end 3-D graphics application, produced by MAXON Computer, Germany.)

The Yoruba religious system is sometimes referred to as the ‘Yoruba Religion’ or simply ‘Orisa Worship’. / In the tradition of Orisa and ancestor worship, the Egungun represents the “collective spirit” of the ancestors. Ancestor worship or reverence is everywhere in traditional Africa. Egungun is a part of this worship. This is basically a cinema 4D render; though I had to draw and to blend several layers in order to enhance the whole atmosphere. / ( CINEMA 4D is a commercial, cross-platform, high-end 3-D graphics application ). / Thanks for stopping by.

  • / Ok, some fellow artists ask me about the possibility to have a closer look of the Egungun-Oyá character I previously presented as part of the Orishas Collection. / Well, here she is. / / I attached the original cinema 4D render so you can compare it with the final results, and appreciate the postwork that had to be done. / Thanks a lot to all of you for your kind support.

  • / Have just received the news that a very kind person has bought 40 greetings cards of Yemaya / Thanks from the heart! / Danilo Lejardi

  • “Cause victory is not the end, it is just the beginning.”

  • “It is not about punishment, good, bad, right or wrong. It is about adjustment. The sword suggests that sometimes this won’t be pleasant. Justice pares things down with that sword so that the scales end up equal. The message is to do what’s necessary, no matter how hard, how disagreeable, in order to gain, or re-gain equilibrium. It is not a nice card, but in its way, it is a very wise card.”

  • “The Nine of Swords indicates the paralyzing nature of our fears and negative expectations. If we allow ourselves to be bound by fear of the future we may eventually create a negative reality for ourselves by virtue of our expectations. Thus, the Nine of Swords is a card which expresses an inner reality that may be “crystallized” or manifested in the external world if we are not able to overcome the negative feelings which affect us. The message of this card is that although all of us experience fear, frustration, and uncertainty we should not allow those negative emotions to immobilize us or keep us from pursuing our goals with enthusiasm and hope. The future will always be uncertain, yet we can face this uncertainty with inner strength and the support of our “higher power.” Nightmare. You need to realize that fears, if not confronted and understood, can lead to obsession, compulsion, paranoia or physical illness. We all have a dark side that must be acknowledged. Avoid being a martyr. Get enough sleep.” Extracted from various internet sources.

Y nunca vemos bien, o no sabemos, o no queremos. • / Édouard Manet, 23 January 1832 – 30 April 1883, was a French painter. One of the first nineteenth century artists to approach modern-life subjects, he was a pivotal figure in the transition from Realism to Impressionism. / His early masterworks The Luncheon on the Grass and Olympia engendered great controversy, and served as rallying points for the young painters who would create Impressionism. Today these are considered watershed paintings that mark the genesis of modern art. This is basically a cinema 4D render; just added some visual elements in postwork to enhance the whole atmosphere; original is a full color render; it was just at the last moment that I decided to tone it down. / (CINEMA 4D is a commercial, cross-platform, high-end 3-D graphics application, produced by MAXON Computer, Germany.)

  • ( This is my first voyage into this card; most probably, I´ll come back soon with a “card” version). The Fool or The Jester is one of the 78 cards in a Tarot deck. It is one of the 22 Trump cards that make up the Major Arcana. The Fool is often numbered 0. / Somehow, I liked this “meaning” or interpretation for this card when recollecting information regarding it: “At #0, the Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. ( ...) indicates that he has all he needs to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantasizing and watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.”

  • This image was inspired by the well known “Dream a Little Dream of Me”, the song usually credited to Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt, with lyrics by Gus Kahn. It was recorded by Wayne King and his Orchestra with vocal by Ernie Birchill on February 18, 1931 and released by Victor Records as catalogue number 22643. It was a top 20 hit for Frankie Laine in 1950. Later notably sung by Doris Day (who, in 1957, was the first singer to record it at the slow tempo in which it had been written), Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. It is arguably best known for the rendition by “Mama” Cass Elliot of The Mamas & the Papas, in 1968, which sold over a million copies. Although my vision is more on the romantic/idealistic feel of the song, I couldnt resist but to add the link to one of Mama Cass performances of this song. Come and see here. The lyrics: / “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” Stars shining bright above you / Night breezes seem to whisper “I love you” / Birds singin’ in the sycamore tree / Dream a little dream of me Say nighty-night and kiss me / Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me / While I’m alone and blue as can be / Dream a little dream of me Stars fading but I linger on dear / Still craving your kiss / I’m longing to linger till dawn dear / Just saying this Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you / Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you / But in your dreams whatever they be / Dream a little dream of me

My Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. / © 2009 Danilo Lejardi —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— A Major Orisha. Ochosi is the divine hunter. He is the orisha that also lives in the forest and is always accompanied by Elegua and Ogun. Ochosi also know as Oxossi, Ode Mata, is a well known magician. Ochosi has great knowledge and usage of all the herbs known in the forest. His implements are a bow and arrow that he constantly has with him in which he uses for his hunt. / Ochosi is also the orisha of justice. Justice for the reason that he is always hunting righteousness. All law enforcement individuals are said to be under his protection and guidance. / His role as an often solitary figure in the wilderness lends him another role as a shaman. Oshossi is connected with all hunter cultures as well as the caboclos in Brazil know as the spirits of the native American dead, as well as the nature spirits of the forest. Oshosi is most important to the people of Brazil in Candomblé (a Latin American religion derived from the traditional spiritual practises of the Yoruba people of West Africa), as the Amazon Rainforest brings this element in Candomblé more than it is found in its cousins, the island religions of Cuban Santeria and Haitian Voudoun.

  • (Please view large). / If any card in the Tarot is the Tarot, it is the Magician. It’s one of the most recognizable cards, always a favorite. It’s also the only card in the major arcana that refers to the minors with the “trumps” displayed upon his table. If the reader believes the Magician stands for the Querent, then the Querent either is, or is currently finding himself eloquent and charismatic at this time. Both verbally and in writing, the magician is clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.
