I finally got to paint this from my digital manipulation, Don’t Give Up Searching . I’m so pleased with the result. I used a few different textures and oil paint and made the eye brown rather then blue so that the image was unified in pallet to suit a college project so that I could paint this particular piece without abandoning duty.
Originally B&W film shot, I then coloured it in photoshop. A photo from my 1940’s/50’s inspired series of my sister.

Completed in 2004, age 17 This is a slightly cropped version of the original, due to the limits of my camera. My original signature got cropped out so I had to insert a new one in photoshop; in the original it is not actually located there. Original size: (40” x 30”) The two subjects are posed in similar positions, each having a dark, circular central focus., Both images have lines above and surrounding the centres, which draw attention towards the centres. The vertical composition help strenghten the feeling of height given by the vertical lines. Both subjects are organic, however one, the eye, has straight lines and geometrical shapes, while the rose has curvy lines and organic shapes. In the eye, the centre is literally dark, while in the flower the darkness is created by shadows. You have to view this in the larger version. The skin texture is amazing This image inspired adgray / to write this amazing and beautiful work, which to me is the best compliment ever. ~ Colours in My Eyes ~ If I should go blind will I still remember / the colours of the world I have seen? / Will my eyes become the colours reflecting my memory; / reds and yellows blues and green? Will there be magentas and violets and ochre? / Will there be azure, aqua, olive and tan? / As the colours gradually fade from my memory / will you not see them in my eyes again? Will the freshness of life be visible still? / The fun of pink and orange and lime / The warmth of vermilion buttercup and lemon / The mellowness of garnet and wine So which would be last that will fade from my eyes? / The brilliance of a sunrise or dark skies of night? / Shall it be the the blue of the atmosphere and water? / Or will it be the calm cool emerald of life?
Okay, couldn’t help it so I’m adding our dog Maggie’s eye which I also took today while taking photos of the kids. She has the most amazing coloured eyes for a dog so I had to add it…. Enjoy!
