They were able to assemble it in a day, as they used to follow the bison herds on the prairies. Much of their food, shelter, clothing and tools all came from the Bison. So when the herd moved, so did they. Many of their daily rituals revolved around nature. For example; The Tipi was made using 13 poles. The 13 poles in the tipi represents the 13 full moons we have in a given year….When you enter a tipi you go to the left and circle around in a clockwise direction. This represents the way of the sun…The door of the tipi always faces East, to meet the rising sun. The Plains Cree relied on the land to survive. It was sacred and they recognized that every living thing was of importance. Plus they only used what they needed. Things never went to waste. A good lesson we SHOULD all be following today. I serve as an interpreter at the Center, and this is part of the written teachings, as we take the children through their many nature programs. Infinity is a long time, especially towards the end. Quote by DAC Art can be viewed much like a dream: when we go to sleep, we do not plan what we will dream. Yet, when we awaken from the dream, sometimes we attempt to psychoanalyze the dream’s meanings and how they relate to our lives. In some cases, analyzing our dreams for meaning can help us better understand ourselves. Perhaps the same metaphor can be used for Surrealist art. Surrealist artists who created their paintings may not have consciously planned the images they would use; yet, as an audience, we attempt to evoke meaning from the images in order to make sense of what the artist’s intention was. Doing this, we make sense of human nature and the relativity of the world around us. Excerpt from: Surrealism Symbols of Relativity by Andrea Martin / I’ve always love the surrealists paintings about relativity and time. Below is a collection of Surrealists work about this theme.

My image “Snowy Owl” was featured in I Love Birds group on 14 May 2009. ....It was also featured in Eye Contact group on 29 June 2009. ! ! Description – This large, white owl has a rounded head and yellow eyes. Both sexes of the Snowy Owl have dark bars and spots although they are heavier on the larger female; Old males may be pure white. This usually silent bird will sometimes utter a shrill whistle and hoarse croak on breeding grounds. It nests north of the tree line, in the High Arctic from Alaska to Labrador. Its winter range extends roughly across the middle of North America, from its breeding range to northern United States. The Snowy Owl is the provincial bird of Quebec. Snowy Owls are nocturnal, but they hunt during the day. Their life cycle is intimately dependent on the abundance of lemmings, which form an important part of their food supply. In years when food is plentiful, These cycles generally occur every four or five years. Snowy Owls range in size from 52 to 70 cm (20 to 28 in.), and their wingspan ranges from 125 to 145 cm (49 to 57 in.). * Distribution – The snowy owl breeds in northern Alaska and in northernmost Canada; Winters are spent throughout Canada and in northern United States. I went down to the crossroads, / Fell down on my knees. / Down to the crossroads, / Fell down on my knees. / Asked the Lord above for mercy, / “Take me, if you please.” Excerpt from Robert Johnson”s Crossroad Blues Started with a basic photo of a road and added the storm with a photo of a cloud I took and build on that photo with brushes and blurs and film grain, added photos of a hat, cats, chickens and a house and blended these with the backgrounds, detailed with brushes and layer effects.
I found this fine old house driving around an aged neighborhood. I stopped and took a picture and decided to go inside if I could. The windows were broken and the general atmosphere was one of serious decline. Once inside I wandered through the rooms looking at the devestation that was all around me. I could only think that once this was a fine elegant home where people lived and enjoyed life. I found an old doll lying under some trash and thought of the child who might have grew up in this house. I sensed memories, history and roots embedded in the house that would soon be lost with its demolition and destruction. / This work is three photos blended together with a lot of digital brush work done throughout. I did some image adustments on the layers with duplicate layers and opacity changes. also some masking work with the brush.
