I decided to make my own! / Check this out or this Not too hard to do, in a few simple steps. 1: Take a copy of your original sized image. Crop it, or just certain parts of it like I have, and place it together to make a new image. Add the name if you like.. or not. 2: Save it (mine is saved to 300w x 450h pixels), upload it to a free image host, or your own website. I used photobucket. Probably best not to make it too wide or it might break the page layout. 3: Where you write the text description for your image, place this code instead: / !http://www.pathtoyourimage.com/imagelocation.jpg! / (the exclaimation mark is what places the image. It’s not html code, it’s RedBubble code. You could also place it with text, above, or below) Hey presto. You now have a bigger preview, or just the parts you want to show. / Like this:

There’s nifty Firefox extension called Greasemonkey that lets you customize the way a web page displays using small bits of JavaScript. Hundreds of scripts, for a wide variety of popular sites, are already available at http://userscripts.org , and now there’s one for redbubble. Based on a script for displaying large versions of thumbnails on facebook, I’ve created one that shows large image previews of art and clothing when hovering over most thumbnails and many links on redbubble.com. To give it a whirl, install Firefox (as if you haven’t already), install Greasemonkey (requires browser restart), then install my script (just click on it and Greasemonkey should pick it up) Then when you load a page, hover over a thumbnail or art/clothing link and gasp in amazement at the amount of time you’ve saved not clicking through (which you can still do of course). I got addicted to it very quickly, so much so that I immediately missed it when using another computer. This is a first release and may have a quirk or 3. Comments/feedback welcome here. Update 04JAN08: Fixed the bugs that Xavier reported, writing now works, and the hover disappears when it should. To update, install it again at the link above.

Dear all. The gift we would like to create in memory of Axel Moore, and in support of the family of a large canvas print of this photo / / taken by Bill Fonseca can now be made. thank you all for your generosity. It is warmly received. Redbubble will contact people individually and facilitate through paypal. / ___________ update 31.12.07 Paypal donations. There are a number of unexpected expenses the family has incurred due to the event, such as the Careflight helicopter coming out, and time off work. These things put an added pressure on a family at times such as these. I have looked into paypal, and it seems it is easy to do if you have the email address, which is family@origoblue.com.au and sign up to paypal here All ways of contributing to the family are greatly appreciated, and really make a difference to their lives. It is a really positive way to help someone when you’re not sure ‘what you can do”-here another way. Thank you all for your generosity. ____________ Nothing will bring Axel back, however, the memory of the community support is the glue that binds us to this earth and each other. The ceremony today was an inspiration to the human spirit. It was touching, it was real and the love people offer just by their presence, I’m sure will help console the family in the smallest of ways in this huge time of change. I know so many people would like to do something ‘real’ to help. If this is you, please feel free to contribute in this way now. kind regards to all. xsunset

This is a question I see on a regular basis in the forums; sometimes in the journal entries as well. I know that RB has posted this information in the forums, though for most new people it’s difficult to find. When you run a search from “my bubble” it doesn’t pick up forum threads, and if you aren’t a forum watcher (or don’t know the forums are there) you don’t even know you can search there. For anybody looking for the base information for required image sizes, the forum thread to see is in The Learning Centre Forum – FAQ listing posted by Peter What the post doesn’t tell you is that the various print sizes differ from image to image, based on the uploaded size of your image. Below are the minimum redbubble required pixels for printing, as well as 3 images of my own showing the uploaded pixel size, and the resulting printout size at redbubble. I hope this will help give an idea of what you’ll get from the image size you have. NB: if you have images that aren’t large enough for what you want, please see the end of the post for help redBubble Minimum Sizes for Prints Cards: 1300 pixels X 900 pixels Small prints: 1600 pixels X 2400 pixels / Med. WARNING: image quality must be excellent in order to increase from small to large, so be sure your original sized image is of good quality. Increasing your images too much will cause artifacting that will show up in your large print. For those of you with Photoshop, here’s a simple tutorial for resizing images for print in Photoshop. Much to my surprise, I discovered that Photoshop (CS2 is what I use) has a wizard for resizing images to print – something I had not seen before since I never ventured into the “Help” menu, which is where you’ll find it. This option is not available in CS3. I am currently printing my own images (up to 13” wide X 44” long) on an Epson R1900 and the prints I have resized using this wizard come out beautifully on that printer. I have not yet sent these off to a print-house to test them, so before you decide to sell anything sized this way, you’ll need to obtain a test-print from the printer of your choice. Download the tutorial in PDF format from here / The pdf contains screen prints of the steps, so it should be simple for anyone to follow. Since I use Photoshop CS2, I have no idea if this option is available in prior versions, or if it is available in Photoshop Elements. You’ll need to look in your programs to see. Please Note* Starting with the highest quality of image you’ve got will help result in the best quality of print.

Lots of people like to add either a Framed View or a Large View of their image into the Comments area for the image. If you want to add a framed shot, have a look at my previous Journal entry Adding a frame around your pictures. The instructions for adding a Large View into the Add your comment box are below. Before you start, open up the Edit Your Profile page (accesible from the my bubble page – click on the edit your profile link near the top of the page). If you use a watermark, scroll down to Zoom View Watermark Preferences. Ensure that either the No watermark (default) or Place a small watermark in the corner of my images is selected. If you use a large watermark, you will obscure the view of the image on the page. Scroll a little further down to Other Preferences. Make sure that the first checkbox in this section (the one that starts with Discourage people from …) is unchecked. If you do not turn this off, you will not be able to copy the image. If you have to change anything, be sure to press the Save Changes button before moving on. Navigate to the Public View of the image of interest. / Press the view larger button (it is just under the left corner of the image). Right-click over the image and select Properties. / Copy the Address (URL) – make sure you get it all, there will likely be three lines of text starting with http: and ending with one of .jpg, .gif or .png – depending on the file type you uploaded. Select view work details (it is just under the left corner of the image) to get back to the previous page. In the Add your comment box, type an exclamation mark (!). / Paste the URL that you copied earlier (directly after the exclamation mark). / Type another exclamation mark (!) directly after the URL. / Make sure there are no spaces. Press the Add Comment button. That will do it – a large view of your image will be appended into the Comments area. I hope you find this useful. Tom You can find all my How To Tutorials by clicking here. ALTHOUGH I HAVE INCLUDED THE METHOD HERE, I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT USE IT. PLEASE REMEMBER, THERE ARE UNSCRUPULOUS PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO MAY ATTEMPT TO COPY YOUR IMAGES AND POST THEM ON OTHER SITES CLAIMING THEM AS THEIR OWN. AN IMAGE IN THE LARGER VIEW IS MORE USEFUL TO THESE THIEVES. ALTHOUGH THE IMAGE QUALITY WILL BE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED FROM YOUR ORIGINAL, THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS PUT THE THIEVES OFF.

Last Friday, Sept 16 2009 was the opening of my first solo exhibition. / Thought I would share a little with you. There was a wonderful attendance and the exhibition was opened by the local mayor, Ann Ferguson, who is a great supporter of the arts in South Australia. / Also in attendance was the leading regional newspaper, The Mt Barker Courier. Today the paper “hit the street” / Here are a couple of the main pieces – the tryptich measures 1800×2400mm (6ft x 8ft). And the lead image (40in x 30in on canvas) – and notice the red dot by one of the other images in this photo. With another 2-3 weeks to run, please drop by if you have the opportunity. To those who have supported me in this exhibition – thankyou very much, it’s greatly appreciated. Jim

Aloha, my suggestion for you before you begin is to go to your / mybubble page. / On the right of this page which is “MyBubble Overview” you will see a list / Add Your Work / Filter activity feed / Sales history / Edit your public profile / View your public profile / / You will now be on your page My Account where you may change your account settings. / Now this is one of the most important things I would like for you to consider, for remember if you can do it, others can do it to, and I want you to consider that someone else may use this code to copy/paste your image onto an unauthorized webpage without your knowledge or consent. So many members have asked me in private how to do this so I have created this tutorial. Yet, it is important to watermark your work so that if it is copied and displayed by someone else without your knowledge or preauthorization, at least you will have your name on it, your watermark, and my suggestion is for you to scroll down on this page to where you see: / / Zoom View Watermark Preferences / and choose, click on, / Place a large watermark in the center of my images / / / Then down below you will also see / Other Preferences / / Notice: This journal is only a suggestion. / In no way am I telling you what to do or trying to influence you in any way. / Members have asked me how to do this, create large images, and so I am only suggesting that you take these precautions first to protect your own personal interests when you decide to post large images of your work on webpages. And another observation I have made is that the portrait type image looks best, larger than the landscape format. It is the dimensions of the field we are pasting it in that will determine the final size. / Click and turn on: / / Place a large watermark in the center of my images / Click and turn on: / / Discourage people from right-clicking or saving my images by placing a transparent image over the top of them. Please understand it’s impossible to prevent downloading of images displayed on web pages, but activating this feature will make it more difficult. Please note: Your original high-resolution images are never displayed on the website, and cannot be downloaded / Now, scroll to the bottom and save your changes. Exit or close the page, and open a new browser window. Choose your image you wish to display, either in a comment on your own journal, or to use when editing your image to display in the sidebar along with your description, or in your thank you note for a feature in a group forum, etc. It is important to note these are the only places I paste my own images. / I never do this with another members image, only my own images for which I own full copyrights. / You may wish to review my journal on the subject of copyright and personal journals if you have an interest and would like to join in the friendly discussion Open another browser window if you wish. Open MyBubble Open your art tab / I am going to use my image Silence of Devotion / as an example. Above in your browser is your image URL / On my image Silence of Devotion in my browser window, my URL address for my image is this: / http://www.redbubble.com/people/ourjrny/art/3977229-4-silence-of-devotion / That is the address for my image. When I attach this address to an image, it becomes a live hyperlink directly to my image. The code for the large image is: / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:xlarge/view:main/yourimageurladdress.jpg You may wish to change the size. You can remove xlarge and type in medium or small…... Now, combine the two, with the code first. Then add the image number of your image. / In this case my image url address is 3977229-4-silence-of-devotion / So it will appear like this: / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:xlarge/view:main/3977229-4-silence-of-devotion.jpg Place an exclamation point immediately before and after the large image code. Place a ! symbol before the first h of the http, and then again immediately after the g of the jpg. / It will appear like this with no spaces. If you remove this space between the first ! and h, the link will become an image. / ! http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:xlarge/view:main/3977229-4-silence-of-devotion.jpg! Now, add a colon symbol : / It shouldn’t be bold, I simply made it bold so that you could better see the symbol for a colon. / / : / Immediately after the colon symbol : add the browser window URL address for your image. Now the code will appear like this, with no spaces. / / ! http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:xlarge/view:main/3977229-4-silence-of-devotion.jpg!:http://www.redbubble.com/people/ourjrny/art/3977229-4-silence-of-devotion / / When you remove the spaces, it becomes a live image with an embedded link back to your webpage. Hover your mouse over this image and you will see it is a live link. Click on it and it will take you directly to my image. / / Here as an example also if you wish to add text to create a live link, simply remove the spaces below after the first ” symbol and after the colon : symbol and it will become a live link. / ” Silence of Devotion”: http://www.redbubble.com/people/ourjrny/art/3977229-4-silence-of-devotion / / Remove the spaces and it appears like this: / Silence of Devotion So now, you may display a full size image in your feature journal as you thank the hosts who have showcased your work. And if someone else uses this method to copy your work into their journal with or without your permission, the image will have your watermark in the center of the image with your name on it, so you will feel good about it. :))) Here is an example of where I have used my images displayed this way in one of my thank you for the features journals / I hope this helps to answer your questions. If you are viewing my tutorial and it has helped you in any way, please drop me a note in a comment and say…. Aloha!

15-12-09 big…..Big…..BIg…..BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!! I recently received an email from a businessman in my town who said he had been admiring my B&W work here on RB and that he wanted 16 large prints to be permanently displayed in pairs in the foyers and gymnasium of Coast Apartments ,a luxury apartment complex he and his partner are developing in town. / The order is for fourteen 40cm x 60cm (16”x24”) and two 40cm x 80cm (16”x32”) images all with a 10cm (4”) wide black border, making the overall size for printing to be 60cm x 80cm (24”x32”) and 60cm x 100cm (24”x40”) respectively. / He and his wife chose photographs of Port Macquarie (PM) from my BubbleSite and requested that I convert them to B&W. / As my database only contains 20cm x 30cm (8”x12”) images and upsizing to the required dimensions was pushing the image quality, I had to rework most of the photographs from my original RAW files and as only one of the photographs chosen was already in B&W then all others had to be converted. Surprisingly, ‘Lone Surfer’, that I made years ago with my old Fuji S5500 4Mp camera handled the resizing quite well. / The collection has been printed by Momentz and were mounted, matted and framed by Mystic Blue , both local businesses. The whole project was a real PM affair. / We struck a good deal with a fair price that comes in verrrrry handy at this time of year. / The photographs chosen by the clients are: 1. Alma Doepel with Clouds / 2. Autumn Sail Past Tacking Point Light / 3. Big Southerly Coming / 4. Contemplation & Perambulation / 5. Fishermen All / 6. Fishing is for the Birds / 7. Lone Surfer #2 / 8. Rock Fishermen #2 / 9. Stormbird / 10. Sunset Moorings / 11. Tacking Point from Sea Acres / 12. The Akuna Cones Home / 13. Under the Arch / 14. Winter Beach Walk / 15. Winter Sunset / 16. You’re Not Going Out in That! / My sincerest, warmest thanks to Graeme and Johanne from Coast Apartments and to all on RB who have appreciated and supported these works and helped keep my dream alive. Enjoy! GB and my best wishes of the Season to all. / Dennis
