  • Nighttime in Norwich, UK / I particularly like the bicycle light trail in the centre of the image :)

  • Taken from the Kett Heights viewpoint overlooking Norwich. Oh, and with some complimentary added effects :)

  • This is La Courtine, one of the most beautiful cliff I’ve ever seen. La Courtine is part of the amazing rocky coast around Etretat in Upper Normandy, France, altogether known as Les Failases d’Etretat. I took this picture last August, on a very windy – as usual over there – late afternoon. / I wanted to have the sea looking as much smooth as possible, but I was in full daylight, as it was around 19:30 hours. Even with the overcasted sky, and even full stopping down the lens, the exposure time was only 1/2 seconds, a too fast time to move the sea surface. Using a polarizer and a 8x ND filter I gained 5 more stops, obtaining therefore, with a slight over-exposure, 20 secs of exposure time. Finally, I used a graduated filter to darken the sky, while keeping a correct exposure on the cliffs and the sea. / This allowed me to give the sea surface a watercolour paint look, and I also obtained a slight movement in the clouds, thanks to the strong wind. I hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. / Paolo

  • Whirling rides at the Florida State Fair. 10 second exposure at F 22. Tripod and patience to capture ride at the top of its spin cycle, and to have the Ferris Wheel in the background stable.

  • Light trails of the standby LED of my computer monitor’s on/off switch in the “Off” state (orange). The international symbol for an on/off switch (a broken circle with a vertical bar through the break) can be seen in bright outline. A five second exposure at macro focus distance and aperture of f/8 with smooth slow camera movement by hand produced the swirling light trails. Copyright © 2008 Brian W. • Shot: Nikon D40X / Format: Raw / Time: 1.29pm / Exposure: 10.000 seconds / F No: 9.0 / Focal Length: 26.0mm / Tripod Used / Uv Filter Used Leura Cascade Falls is in Sydney Australia The Blue Mountains. This is a great walk to go and do! It’s not to hard and you see beautiful things the whole way! How to get there… Commencing from the Leura Cascades Picnic Area make your way to the information board from which you will observe a concrete pathway descending to the left. Follow the pathway as it travels beside the bubbling Leura Cascades creek. You will approach a small footbridge, at this there will be an intersection, you will note a weathered signpost indicating the direction of Leura Cascades, from this point head downhill to the Cascades. As you descend the fern covered stairs (handrails for support) to the Cascades you will hear the sounds of rushing water as the creek picks up speed. At the bottom, the Cascades are best viewed from beneath a rock cave looking back up the Cascades. A brief sidetrack can be made from the Cascades by following the path for a short distance to a lookout directly above the Bridal Veil Falls. Return to the picnic area via the same pathway.

  • / Published in the book “The City”

  • Taken at Docklands, Melbourne. The water surface was a little choppy with the strong breeze, but the 30 sec exposure helped smooth things out. The hardest part was the left hand side where the light was brightest from the complex, a half grad was used to hold back the light, a stronger grad would have been better (if I had one) Taken with a Canon EOS 40D, mounted on a triped (a must) / Aperture used: f/6.3 / ISO : 100 (to keep down digital noise) / Exposure time : 30.secs / Focal length: 10.00mm / Lens used, Sigma 10 – 20mm / / / / / / /

  • I was experimenting with slow shutterspeed effects, and saw a friend do some work using fire. so it became something i wanted to try and just play around with and see what i could do with it. / so one cold night, im bored, i decided to try this time lapse stuff out / at the time i was still using my kodak easyshare 6490 camera back in feb of 2007. / so i set it up on my tripod in the darkest part of my house, the hallway / it took a few times of trial and error, to be lined just right with the framing, and to get the flames just right. i was going for a heart shape for valentines / i used two bic lighters to achieve this effect / just as i set the timer on the camera, as it was starting to release the shutter is when i started forming the heart shape with the flame / this was a very fun challenge, something great to try on those cold or rainy days and you feel like there isnt anything to do. this was shot in SS priority, SS was set at 5.6, time lapse was set at 6 sec, aperture was F 2.8, and focal length was at 6mm, and exposure comp at -2, no programed effects were done to this shot, this is as is right out of camera / unfortunately due to the 4mp of the camera all that is available is the card
