Taken during the 2007 Airpower over Hampton Roads airshow at Langley Air Force base. My art with 1000+ views
Taken at the 2007 Airpower over Hampton Roads airshow at Langley Air Force base. This was my first time seeing the Thunderbirds, they put on a pretty good show.
2007 AirPower over Hampton Roads, Langley AFB. B-17 flyby, plane slightly banked for a perfect picture opportunity. You can almost make out the oil leaking over the engine cowl and wing (especially on port engine number 2). This is the Memphis Belle replica, the real Memphis Belle is currently undergoing restoration at the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. Last I heard the restoration is supposed to be completed by 2010.
You know that satisfying feeling you get when you feel that you just “nailed” the shot? I’m really happy with my Shutterspeed selection to capture the prop swirl on this P-51D Mustang called “Bald Eagle”. My art with 1000+ views
Captured at the airshow in Langley, VA. The F-4 Phantom used to be my all time favorite airplane growing up, it was so cool to see one of the last few flight worthy F-4’s in this heritage flight formation. Trailing the F-4 is an F-22 Raptor and an F-15 Strike Eagle (lower plane).
The British Royal Air Force Red Arrows displaying some of their signature 9 ship formation flying skills. This image was recently taken during a rare US apparence at the Airpower Over Hampton Roads airshow in Langley, VA.
Biplane ready to take off at the 2008 Airpower Over Hampton Roads airshow. The pilot activated the “smoke pod”, which drowned out the background quite nicely.
One of the few remaining F-4 Phantom II’s, performing at the 2008 Airpower over Hampthon Roads Airshow. The F-4 Phantom II is a twin engine, all weather, tactical fighter-bomber. It originally performed three tactical air roles: air superiority, interdiction and close-air support. The F-4 continues to serve in retirement as the QF-4 Aerial Target, an unmanned, high performance aerial target used for live air-to-air and surface-to-air missile tests. Image was taken in Langley, VA. Pictured is a patriotic jet jockey hard at work -
The “office” of so many back in the day. Captured at the Airpower Over Hampton Roads airshow in June 2008.

This was taken from a bridge over the river in Fort Langley, BC. The morning mist was quite heavy with temperatures just above zero at around 9am. The Dragonboat races would be held at this dock about 1 hour after this photo was taken, at which time all the mist had burned off.
Fort Langley misty morning from the bridge overlooking the river. Picture taken a little bit later, the sun looks stronger.
Looking through a spiderweb from the bridge over the river in Fort Langley. I really enjoyed looking at the dew on the web and at the surreal effect created by the mist. The dock where the dragonboat races started from an hour later can be seen in the background.
F-15E Strike Eagle from the East Coast Demo team performs a highspeed pass to wow the spectators at the Airpower Over Hampton Roads airshow in Langley, Virginia.
Last night I went to the Airpower Over Hampton Roads Airshow. I stopped near a parking lot at the end of the runway, and was treated to the return of four F-15E Strike Eagle pilots. As they walked towards us, they asked us how they looked and if their 4 ship formation was nice and tight. They then joked that this pictured pilot here, was probably way off the mark, I even commented that I didn’t get his plane in even with THAT lens. It was fun to see the human aspect of an airshow, and having a laugh with these hometown heros. I can’t believe how young these “kids” looked.
09:37 Sunday morning. The static display of the F-22 Raptor is just screaming to be photographed. Decided to break a few rules here and only took a shot of the F-22’s office. What an incredible plane! The flight demo later on was just stunning as usual. Taken at the 2009 Airpower Over Hampton Roads Airshow at Langley Air Force Base, VA. I just love the lighting in this shot.
Sort of a bittersweet moment, apparently the West Coast Demo team will no longer perform at airshows with the F-15. To mark the “retirement” this F-15 was hosed down by two firetrucks as it returned from it’s last tactical flight demo. Nikon D300, Sigma 50-500mm.

My Hero An homage to my hero. This piece probably has no meaning to anyone beyond my family and close family friends. But I wanted to post it. This is the last standing remains of Stublick Chimney on the very wind swept moor above the village of Langley on Tyne in Northumberland. This is a view that is surreal to find, a place that was once filled with noise, fumes and people, is now open, windy and filled with bird song between the odd car that passes by.
