Lone figure walking into the shadows…...
Taken in a back alley of Fitzroy – looking towards the back of the shops that face Brunswick street. This rusty old shed on the right recently sold for approx $600k
It is fascinating to see the different colours at the moment here in the centre of the Netherlands. While some trees already show their full autumnal beauty, others still keep very much their green appearance. But on this beautiful beech-tree lane near Maartensdijk, autumn is clearly on its way. Near Maartensdijk, 12th October 2008, 8.39 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 135 mm / F 8, 1/3, ISO 200

Silence Lane / I love cemeteries. / For some people, cemeteries are places of dread. For me, they are places of wonderful quiet and peace. A place of resting, whatever your religion, if any. Memories wrapped in stone and tree shadows. A place to reflect, and wonder about life. Am I allowed to do this? Had to do it, While I had to get up at 0245GMT for work and drive my trains, my wife Donna, went on a church walk with the boys as well to Elterwater in the English lake district and she took my pride and joy, only cause I know she has the eye! and she helps me bin the rubbish shots I have taken, she’s learnt from me and yes I was sweating that she took my camera, so this is one of her shots, I processed it in HDR style to get the most detail, I am pretty proud of her, I think she has done a great job of this shot, no cropping whatsoever, well spotted, well I am congratulating her anyway.here’s Donnas shot. / Shot with a Nikon D70s and 18-70mm lens / /

I am glad I did not stay at home on this magnificent autumnal morning. It was ever so beautiful out in our forests here. Even if you know all the lanes by now, the change of season and light means a change each time again. And this lane is a very special one. Near Laage Vuursche, 2nd November 2008, 9.41 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 135 mm / F 14, 1/20, ISO 800 Sold as laminated print.
